Medicine Personal Statement

Popular question asked to students applied medical courses was always the reason of why picking a career with great burden in their bright future. These students have came out survived this question with sort of answers. Some say they are destined to become a doctor. Some say the reason was because of their inspirational idols. Some state this career chooses them. Not to forget those who pick medicine to survive future unemployment. Their reason was based on basis that medicine was the most stable and important career. Medicine was crucial in war. Medicine was needed during economic turmoil.

Life without future prospect and vision were always dull and tedious. Symptoms like laziness and bored to death were signs for this illness. I suffered this infection long ago before I made my own reflection on a point on my life timeline. Reflection which I believe turns my life on the sinking gigantic Titanic upside down.

If there are persons who get credit for my future career, she is my teacher and my life guru. Since my first class with her, I reflected myself. Though it was not a drastic action, it was obvious that her method made up my mind. She influenced our class with her method in our first lecture. She captured our vision through a clip on how a human delivers baby. Her purpose was to sketch us how fascinating human science would be. That was what she mentioned. Next thing I realized, I obsessed with her session. Health science and biology were included in lists of things that keep me alive other than my passion in music and hockey. It was the turning point in my tedious life. With years spent with her, I had my mind made up. I do not want to be like her. I just want to be more than her in my future. I want to wipe out perception among students today that medical field was not a reason to survive unemployment. Medical field needs more than that. Medical field needs genuine interest and curiosity. The only reason that I see myself as a medical lecturer in 2025 is because I want to help my country. Malaysian healthcare system needs to be balance. And to be balance, Malaysia needs a lot more doctors with pure and genuine interest in medicine.

Balance is always the main keyword I used to describe myself. That explains the reason I took International Baccalaureate, preparation program that requires balance development in 6 criterions focused. Pius, I am a person who desires to have equal proportion in everything that I do. In sport, I focused my development in hockey which I described have crucial parts same as a doctor needed. Hockey is a sport that requires your mind to be as agile your body needs. At the mean time, you need to have high composure level to prevent yourself panic from opponent pressure. This level of pressure is as high as pressure in emergency, where doctor needed to have high composure level to maintain calm. My undoubted passion in music represents my development in art. Even though I not good enough in playing musical instruments, I believe I am a good evaluator in music. I hear and evaluate all sorts of music. Band like Radiohead and Muse are always fascinating with their music. Lovely lyric from Sixpence None The Richer as my favorite when refreshing sweet memories. Classic music from Beetles and rock from Deep Purple and Zeppelin always keep me on track.

Being a doctor could earn me more than daily news and reports on health offered. Benefits that I could earn from every moment I breath in a doctor life will I utilize to produce a lineup of great doctors and surgeons for Malaysian brighter future.
