Nursing Personal Statement

My chosen courses to apply for study are BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing and Paramedic Science and BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science. I have chosen these courses for many reasons. At first I was heading towards a forensic science course and have studied at great length in this field from books (such as Hidden Evidence by Thomas T. Noguchi), programmes, the latest technology and by keeping up to date with world affairs. I then felt I was more interested in the biological side of my studies in particular the 'Human Health and Diseases' module I completed

On occasions I have attended the two local Leicester hospitals with my mother, to get a feel of the hospital environment

I have attended open days at universities, and was quite excited at the prospect of being able to learn in this environment, and could see myself in a biological/medical profession in the future

In law lessons I have carried out presentations and role plays which I enjoyed and found very vocational. I found doing this helped me to communicate with large groups of people, but also I was able to listen to the views of other people

With my Mathematics studies I also enjoy the challenge of problem solving, and got on very well with numerical work as I found it rewarding especially when a particularly difficult problem was solved

It must be said that in particular my Biology lessons inspired me to follow this particular course, as I find learning about living things and how they function in general, really motivating

I try to interpret a lot of my knowledge gained from my education in my job, as I work for a large company as an account application assessor. I have to be extremely accurate and also very aware of the Data Protection Act. The job also demands a large amount of trust . I need to have a mature outlook and take responsibility for my actions as they involve decisions that will affect the choices of many customers

I have completed many charity events, 'the walk of life' for Rainbows Hospice, sponsored famine events and I also attended my local Red Cross and an after school church group. In 1998 I was baptized as a catholic and I try to attend church as often as I can

I have played the Cello for seven years and played in front chair at DeMonfort Hall on three occasions. I attend the local gym frequently as I enjoy swimming, yoga, working out and long walks

Between leaving college and starting my university degree, I decided to spend a year working full time, so I could successfully complete training courses, 'Next plc' provided to achieve the highest grade in customer service and to really get into my role as a Customer Services Adviser. This would also help me to gain experience that I will find useful in the future and to learn more about the world of work

I would also say I'm quite adventuress and love to travel, I have seen parts of the world when I have a break. I love to learn about other cultures and ways of life and to see historical sites and at present have been to parts of America and Europe, but now I have planed to visit the Caribbean in May and Australia later on this year.
