Psychology Personal Statement

How are these words are connected with psychology? In my opinion everything starts with the mind, it controls our lives. This is why I am so interested in psychology. The realization that I really want to study this subject came from understanding that I always analyze others actions and have a desire to help people solve their problems. A few years ago I started to focus on the source of these problems, I was interested in a persons childhood and how this was an important factor in their personal development.

I have been seriously interested in psychology for the past three years. In the beginning my interest in this subject was like a hobby, I read a lot of books and magazines about psychologyfoe example one of the most favourite in Lithuania ‘‘Psychology for you‘‘, I watched films like “ The Godfather” or “Fracture” which developed my analytical contemplation and eventually I understood that this is the subject which I want to study more seriously. More recently I have done whatever was possible to find out more about this subject. For this reason I attend psychology lessons at school. This option is very useful in my personal life because it gives me the basics knowledge of psychology and also it helps me to understand people better. The courses on offer at your university are intriguing to me as I would like to develop my analytical skills, critical thinking and to perceive mental work.

I am a member of my school parliament social committee helping to organize events for the school society the most famous was “ The preventive event agains narcotics” . Solving the problems at my school gives me the opportunity to improve my skills in communication and it is like work experience for me. I am also a member of the Red Cross Association. Another of my extra curriculum activities is photography. Now I am attending a photography club and we take part in some exhibitions all over Lithuania. This activity is important because it helps me to analyze my surroundings. I also enjoy keeping active so I started this year to attend a ballroom dancing. It teaches me to concentrate and think about the structure of dance. Several years ago I attended art school, music school and I was the a member of a folk dance group. These activities taught me to cooperate with people and encouraged competitiveness.

Psychology interests me because this subject is still developing. I am very interested in how people behave and always wanted to understand their actions. I am a good candidate because I am determined and able to work hard under pressure to reach the best results. I want to study in the UK because of the quality of the education system and teaching staff. Also there are a lot of possibilities to improve my skills by using the latest technologies in psychology. I have decided to study in this University because I strongly believe that it will give me the best opportunities to improve my knowledge which I will use in the future.
