Sixth Form Personal Statement

For G.C.S.E. I study Maths, Additional Maths, English Language, English Literature, History, Geography, German, Triple Award Science and Short Course R.E. Out of these, my favourite subjects are Chemistry, Biology, Maths, History and English Literature as I find these subjects very interesting, enjoy writing essays on literature and take pleasure in solving mathematical problems. I would like to study at AS level Chemistry, Biology, Maths and English. I would have also liked to continue with History but I feel the four subjects I have chosen are more beneficial for what career path I would like to pursue and to take on five AS levels could prevent me from achieving my best in examinations

From my choice of subjects I have acquired the ability to produce coursework showing how I can research a topic and present it in a precise and comprehensible structure. I also enjoy presenting work through speech and am particularly proud of a PowerPoint presentation I produced for a history assignment on the Cuban Missile Crisis. I am also particularly proud of my Duke of Edinburgh Awards and my public speaking achievements, as these have helped me to be more reliable, gain more confidence and improve my organisational skills

From my activities I have learnt many new skills. Clarinet and choir help me expand my musical ability, netball helps keep me active and Girls Brigade helps me maintain interests outside of school

I believe I have many personal qualities that I have strengthened as I have matured. I am initiative as my leadership skills have often risen during Duke of Edinburgh and team situations. I am well organised and reliable as I organise the advertising for Senior Scripture Union every week. I am determined as I have completed Duke of Edinburgh and show enthusiasm when asked to complete something. I am creative and original with ideas as I help with the Sunday school on a regular basis, and frequently lead the teaching by organising the lesson and designing a craft project for the children to work on. I am also very familiar with computer programmes and have learnt how to use PowerPoint and can type quickly from practice in writing assignments.
