Sixth Form Personal Statement

During my stay at Highfields School I have participated in many activities ranging from football to inter-form activities, these activities being mainly sports based. I enjoyed playing for the school football team during the first two years at Highfields, winning numerous trophies. Rugby has been the activity which I have most enjoyed and also been very successful at. During year 8 our team won the Derbyshire cup, with myself being in the team

With this love for rugby I organised a work experience placement with a friend of mine Larwence Kenyon, Larwence is the rugby youth development officer for this area, he has a great knowledge and understanding of the game and I thought that this placement would be both educating and interesting, which it truly was. I had to catch the train to and from derby every day at the regular work times (8.30, 5.30) And then went to the office where I had responsibility in computing, photocopying and telephone work which I enjoyed. Then after a brief spell in the office each day Larwence and I went to coach young children the game of rugby, which I also greatly enjoyed

I have had experience in other areas of work during the last few years including working in a local busy restaurant (presently) and also an inner city estate agent managed by my aunty. In both of these jobs I have enjoyed a role of responsibility which in my opinion exceeds my years. However I am very hay that I have been able to manage with the tasks set

During my own time I enjoy playing cue sports, darts, rugby and football, table tennis and also watching Derby County on Saturdays'

Whilst playing table tennis and pool I have enjoyed winning various competitions with my local teams. In June of last year me and other team mates represented Derbyshire in the under 16's table tennis championships

I am hoping to progress onto either the sixth form or a local college to study both business and computer studies. These are the subjects I am both strong at and enjoy greatly. Looking further into my career I am hoping to gain a job related to these topics, which revolves around office work. I am hoping to do this type of work because whilst working at General accident I worked on computers and the worked revolver around business, from this experience I really enjoyed the work and therefore base my future plans around it. At home and school I enjoy using computers to complete coursework etc and inevitably find them easy to use

Personally I think I have many strengths, the main strength I think I have is the ability to use numbers and computers, which are becoming more and more useful in life. Also I think I am good at communicating which makes tasks much easier than without this skill. Also I think I am quite creative as I love putting new ideas into practice as well as being able to work as part of a team or on my own to do this. I am very competitive, second place isn't good enough for me, I think I have gathered this from my sporting background where second place counts for nothing.
