Spanish & European Studies Personal Statement

I have decided to take the course of European Studies with Spanish because I know that I would enjoy greatly the subjects that entail, also because it will help me to pursue the career that I would like to obtain, teaching

It will give me a greater insight in how Europe is developing and changing. The knowledge of European affairs is becoming increasingly important considering the ever-growing involvement of Europe in our daily lives

By doing Spanish, it will increase my communication skills, so I can operate successfully abroad or in the UK. Given the growing importance of the European union I see it as essential to have a command of several European languages and cultures. Being of Spanish origin I would like to further my knowledge of Spanish culture and language

Furthermore, I have always been interested in current affairs, and the relationship between the individual, society and the state. I feel that my chosen course option will allow me to explore these relationships

I would like to join some of the universities activities such as sports and dance, because I am currently undertaking swimming and running, I do this for enjoyment and to keep myself healthy. I also do dance which I enjoy greatly

I used to be part of a kickboxing group in my secondary school. I also attend to drama lessons, were I was entered in to competitions and won several. I have studied Galician language as part of my extra curricular activities and enjoyed horseriding and reading very much

I enjoy traveling and experience foreign cultures. In my travels I have been to Spain, Portugal and Holland. I am hoping to travel to South America next year, in particular Peru

I also take my own initiative in my part-time job, where I have to be attentive and prompt. This helped me to be quick thinking and resourceful

I am a highly enthusiastic and innovated person, who works well alone or as part of a team. I enjoy a good challenge and am motivated by results. I have an excellent range of interpersonal skills, including prioritisation of work, managing my time effectively, flexible and able to adapt to all situations with ease

I have outstanding communications skills by being bilingual in English, Spanish, and am able to work with people at all levels.
