Relocation to the Greenwich Peninsula

Ravensbourne College is relocating to Greenwich Peninsula, to an innovative building with impressive aesthetics. It looks stunning and suggests a unique and exciting space. It doesn't just look great from the outside - what will go on inside is more important. The people who use it leave their mark on it – you will bring it to life. It will be full of the noises and mess of innovation, the chaos and clamour of creativity. It will be messy and unstructured, fluid and unpredictable. It will brim over with stories. That’s when we will really understand what this building is about.

So this is not just a story about a new office block. We talk about creating a new institution for a new building. What does this actually mean? Here you’ll be able to find out more about what this new institution of ours will actually look like, sound like and feel like. We will answer your questions on any aspect of the move; share the latest plans and drawings; review progress; explain findings from internal consultations, and much more. We’ll also provide links to live discussions about our transformation and relocation on Facebook, our community forum and other discussion sites that are being used. Further information can be found here on our relocation pages: http://intranet.rave.ac.uk/relocation/ and http://www.rave.ac.uk/about.php?id=4.

Accommodation and Accommodation Policy

We have accommodation for 100 students on our campus, and give international students priority to live in this accommodation in their first year of study the remaining rooms are offered to students who live furthest from the College.

If you are an international student, please note that we can only guarantee you a place if you fill in and return an application form for accommodation. We must receive this form by 30 June.

If you prefer to live off campus or you do not qualify for on campus accommodation we will send you information about how to go about finding off campus accommodation. Whether you choose to live on or off campus, our Accommodation Officer is here to help.

On campus

Our accommodation is a terrace of 24 small attractive modern town houses and one bungalow. The houses are just 20 metres from the main College building. Four students share each house. We try to accommodate students of the same nationality in the same house. You'll have your own bedroom and share a kitchen and bathroom with three other students. The houses are furnished and equipped with basic items - such as a fridge/freezer, electric hob, microwave combination oven, kettle, toaster and vacuum cleaner. Pillows, bedding, cutlery and crockery are not provided. A bed pack which contains a single duvet and cover, pillow and cover, and fitted sheet and crockery and cutlery can be purchased from the College. These must be ordered and paid for in advance. A form will be sent to you by the Accommodation Officer.

Most of the houses have the facility for a land-line telephone - but it is the responsibility of students to arrange for this to be connected. There is a public telephone and a laundry in the development.

One house is fully equipped for students with disabilities.

The College (including student accommodation) is a non-smoking site. However, there are designated smoking areas within the College grounds.

The rent ranges from £73 to £84 per week, depending on the size of the room. This includes the cost of electricity and water. Please note: rent is payable every term in advance by three post-dated cheques or by Bank Transfer. These are required when the offer of accommodation is made. If you are offered on-campus accommodation we will also require an initial deposit of £250 together with £250 towards your first term's rent with your acceptance of the room before you start at the College. If you do not send this payment we may offer the room to another student. You are required to give the name of a guarantor (parent, guardian or another person) to underwrite the payment of your rent.

Off campus If you are not eligible for on-campus accommodation, are unsuccessful in securing on-campus accommodation, or prefer to live off campus we can provide you with a list of houses, flats and rooms that are available to rent in Chislehurst and the surrounding areas, and a list of local Letting Agents.

Unfortunately we are not able to view these properties for you or make arrangements for you to view them. But we are able to help you by providing the lists and advice booklets.
