Charge

  • Charge is conserved, measured in coulombs (1 amp second).
  • Charge of an electron = -1.6 x 10-19 C
  • No. of electrons that carry 1 C = 6.25 x 1018
  • Charge = the area under an I-T graph.
  • 1 coulomb is the quantity of charge that passes a point in a second when the current flowing through is 1amp.

Current

  • Current is the rate of flow of charge. Measured in Amps.
  • I = Q / T
  • I = current, Q = charge, T = time

Power

  • Power is the rate of energy transfer. Measured in Watts (W).
  • P = V \times I
  • P = power, V = voltage, I = current

Parallel

In parallel, the voltage across each branch of the circuit is the same because the branches are connected to the same two points.

Series

In a series circuit, the current is the same through all the components.
