I have recently been scammed on GUMTREE. Bidding for an i phone 4 and there were (supposidly) lots of other bidders so the guy said if I did a bank transfer the following day it would secure the phone and he would post it straight off. Stupidly I did this and yes you guess it no phone arrived. The guy had said he lived in Oxford but when I contacted him by text as he would not answer calls he said he had used a post office in Fleetwood Lancashire. Several text messages were going back and forth and he then said he had been to the post office and they told him there was a problem and the parcel had gone missing surprise surprise. He said he would refund me the money but asked for ALL my card details to do this but I let him know that no way was he getting them. I have now told him that I am contacting the police and he said he would go to the bank and transfer the money back so I am now waiting to see. Please everyone do not trust anyone on gumtree, I know there are probably some genuine people on there but the scammers are spoiling it for them so be warned.
