Accomodation for 1st years comprises of Staircase IV, Chavasse, Matthews and New Block.

- Staircase IV: Has wachine machines on every floor but no sinks in rooms. - Chavasse: Largest rooms with high ceilings. Only 8 of these rooms. One washing machine.

The majority of 1st years live in Matthews and New Block.

Social Spaces

St Peter's has a well-used, centralised JCR situated under Matthews block and next to Staircase IV. St Peter's JCR can be considered quite large (bops are held there), bigger than some of the richer colleges like Trinity even. The centralisation is important as it means it's used more frequently than e.g. Somerville who don't have one room for the JCR, but several rooms across their college resulting in a dispersion of students when socialising.

The JCR has two foosball tables (one free), a Ping-Pong table, a pool table, Sky plasma TV, vending machines, many comfy seats and sofas, lockers and video game machines.

Situated merely a few steps away from the JCR (allowing for easy access in the evenings) is the newly refurbished St Peter's bar complete with a beer garden and darts board.

Student-eye view

St Peter's is a relaxed and friendly college and from what I can tell the MCR are pretty socially active - they've organised various events. We're not very rich so accommodation prices can be a bit higher than other colleges and I don't think there are many book grants and things like that, but I don't know how much those sorts of things will affect you (it probably says on the website whether graduate students get accommodation). I don't know if St Peter's has any really strong stereotypes but there are a lot of people who seem quite sporty, that might just be Oxford though.
