Standard offers for the International Baccalaureate vary from college to college and it is worth doing some research to get yourself a lower offer!

Here are some examples to show you the range (roughly from lowest to highest). When they talk about overall points they always mean including bonus points.

This information was correct in October 2009.

Christ's College:

• Our standard IB offers are between 40 and 42 points overall, with 7, 7, 7 or 7, 7, 6 in the Higher Level subjects.

Churchill College

• 40 or 41 points overall with Higher Level scores of 7, 7, 6

Clare College

• 7,7,6 in relevant subjects, with at least 2 at higher level, and a score of 39 points overall. We accept that candidates may sometimes be taking their proposed subject of study as a subsidiary subject for the IB. In that case, we would ask for a 7 in that subject at subsidiary level.

Downing College

• Offers for applicants taking the International Baccalaureate are normally made at the level of 39 points overall (including Theory of Knowledge) and 20 points from three subjects being taken at Higher Level

Emmanuel College

• Our standard IB offer is 19-21 points at Higher Level and 39-41 overall; including bonus points

Fitzwilliam College

• At International Baccalaureate (IB) is it 776 in the Highers with a point total of 40.

Girton College

• 7,7,6 in the three Higher Level subjects and an overall mark of between 38 and 40 points for those with the International Baccalaureate

• A minimum of 40 points overall with 7,7,6 in three Higher Level subjects

Homerton College

• Offers on the IB vary between 39 and 42 pts (inclusive) with 40/41 being the most common. In most cases this is also accompanied by the need to get 776 in HL subjects.

King's College

• We standardly require grades 7,6, and 6 in the relevant Higher Level subjects plus an overall score of 38, including the Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay components.

Murray Edwards College

• typically around 40 points overall in IB

• However in an email from the Admissions Office (October 2009) I was told: Offers are usually 41/42 points. We would normally make offers in the IB with grades 7, 7, 6 in the most relevant Higher Level subjects. Of course each academic profile is different but this should help as a general rule.

Newnham College

• in the International Baccalaureate we usually ask for an overall score of 40 to 42 points, with 776 in the Higher Level subjects

• A conditional offer in the IB would be 40 or 41 points overall (including bonus points), with 7,7,6 in the Higher Level subjects.

• IB offers are usually for a minimum of 38-42 points, to include 7, 7, 6 at Higher level in relevant subjects.

• For IB, we usually set offers at 776 in HL subjects plus a points total of 40 or 41 (including TOK and EE).

Robinson College

• The ‘typical’ conditional offer, at Robinson, for someone studying the IB is to obtain scores of 7, 7, 6 at Higher Level (scores may be specified in relevant subjects) with at least 39 points overall. Please note that each offer is tailored to the individual so this information is to be used as a guide only.

• Our standard International Baccalaureate offer is for 40 or more points overall (including bonus points), and for either 7,7,6 or 7,6,6 in the Higher Level subjects.
