Student Finance Matters

The Student Room and Student Finance England have teamed up to create this zone to give you all the information you need about funding your time at university or college.

Whether you're a new student, already on your course or just thinking about higher education, this zone will help you find the information and guidance about grants, loans and bursaries.

• Read articles and profiles about the cost of university or college and what finance you can get.
• Use the student finance calculator to see how much you might get.
• Watch our myth-busting film to find out more about what’s available to you.

The final deadline for new full-time students to apply online for 2012/13 student finance is 31 May 2012.

Continuing full-time students should apply online for 2012/13 student finance before the final deadline of 29 June 2012.

Part-time students can apply for 2012/13 student finance from summer 2012– so check back then for details.

Student Finance Surgeries

Social media surgeries

We host regular student finance surgeries on Facebook and Twitter, normally on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Follow us for details and times: facebook.com/SFEngland and twitter.com/sf_england. Post your student finance questions during our surgery hours for a real-time response or leave comments which will be responded to during these designated slots.

Specialist support surgeries

In addition to our general student finance surgeries, we run regular 'specialist support' surgeries for students who have queries about the additional funding that may be available to them. This includes Disabled Student Allowance, Child Care Grant, Parent Learning Allowance and Adult Dependants Grant. The next specialist support surgeries will take place from 11.30am to 2.30pm on 12 April, 10 May and 14 June.

Repayment surgeries

If you've got a query about student loan repayment, our dedicated repayment advisors will be on our social media sites from 2-4pm on Monday 16, 23 and 30 April.

Note: Customers with queries relating to their specific accounts should call us on 0845 300 50 90 or for repayment queries on 0845 0738 891. Social networking forums are public and students should not disclose personal or financial details on these sites.
