The 'Mickey Mousers' Society

TSR Wiki > About TSR > Societies > The 'Mickey Mousers' Society

The society forum is generally used for friendly discussion, particularly relating to courses. Members already at university can provide advice to those intending on taking a 'Mickey Mouse' subject, and hopefully remove some of the prejudices that come with a lack of understanding of course content or an individuals' future plans.

A welcome

Welcome to the Wiki page of the TSR 'Mickey Mousers' Society (MMSoc).

The MMSoc is open to everyone, but requests that all members respect the views of others and discuss opinions fairly. The society exists for those who take, or intend to take, a subject at degree level which receives the label of being 'Mickey Mouse', and is prejudiced against by others. There is no set list of 'Mickey Mouse' subjects, so each person can make their own judgement on what is a 'Mickey Mouse' subject, and what isn't. Subjects are generally labelled as being 'Mickey Mouse' if they contain a large amount of vocational study, or are non-traditional, and therefore not widely understood or recognised. Usually, those courses have names that, on first glance, make the course appear simplistic; with key words being 'TV', 'Games', 'Studies', etc.

The society forum is generally used for friendly discussion, particularly relating to courses. Members already at university can provide advice to those intending on taking a 'Mickey Mouse' subject, and hopefully remove some of the prejudices that come with a lack of understanding of course content or an individuals' future plans.

The MMSoc also welcomes those who support only traditional subjects, and are against the current growth in range of courses available for study at degree level, provided that those individuals keep any discussion amiable and do not attack on a personal level.
