FacilitiesAlthough it is a small cornish campus, it is only some 5 years old so enjoys great facilities. It LibrariesWe enjoy a big main library complete with bean bags and also a smaller law library which houses all the universities archives. The library also accommodates the 'film course' which is offered here and thus has a wide selection of DVD's available for rent. The fee's which you can incur for late return of books etc are minimal and you will find that all staff are friendly so will listen to pleas. IT and computingThe university enjoys an amazing computing network, there is wireless internet available around most of the campus (including the student bar, the library and most lecture rooms). The student halls have non-wireless internet which is renowned for being a tad temperamental. You can hire a laptop (both Mac and PC) for up to a day should yours not be working and there is a good number of workstations with all the necessary programs. SportsThere is a fully functioning gym on site which is great, the gym is run by a separate company so is a little more expensive than other university gyms but in return they offer classes and personal training. We have every other conventional sport that you can think of, we also offer extreme Frisbee, kung fu and have links with the horse riding stables near by. If however the university does not offer the sport you want, Truro (the largest city in the southwest) has a wide variety of clubs and isn't far. WelfareThe welfare standard is amazing on campus, every member of university staff is eager to help and you are assigned on arrival a mentor (a third year) who guides you around your first year and is available if you need a friend or are just a little lost. There is also free counseling available or you can visit the 'welfare office' and seek advice there. HealthcareThere is a doctors in the near by village of Penryn however, a nurse is on campus 2 days a week. There's also a doctor's surgery on Trescobeas road in Falmouth, next to the minor injuries unit. ShopsThere is but the one shop on campus and prices arn't really student friendly, but for milk and bread it's a god send! There is a free bus which takes you to the local ASDA and back again every Monday and Thursday. Falmouth is only 15 minutes away by bus and has every shop or restaurant you could possibly need. If living in Falmouth Town there is an Iceland and Tesco quite local (10 minutes walk approx?) they are all quite cheap! RestaurantsSee above Pizza express on habour of Falmouth Town! BanksThere is only 1 cash machine on campus, which costs £1.80 to draw money from. Your best bet is to ask for cashback at the Tremough shop. TransportThere is a frequent bus service from campus (costing 60p for a single) however, cabs are cheap and if theres enough of you, you might find them more comfortable. Careers servicePart-time jobsIf you're not too picky then there's a lot out there - waitressing, barwork and lots of cleaning/bed and breakfast jobs thanks to the huge amount of hotels around. Religious facilitiesThere used to be a chapel at Tremough but now it is an additional lecture theatre! There is 'the Oasis', a quiet room available for everyone, of any religion. There is a chaplain on campus who is very open to all beliefs. There are also religious societies, the Christian Union is very strong. SocialBars, pubs and clubsRemedies on Monday Night is best bet, with Pre-drinks at Watermans were it is cheap and live music is played most student nights. EventsFXU hold many events throughout the year for the students. Clubs and societiesMany societies to get involved in, including drama, swimming, film, debate team ect. AccommodationOn site Accomodation is quite expensive, and cheapest bet is to live in town. However, if still looking for hall location, go to The View, rooms are £107 a week, with 81 student rooms. living area has massive flat screen tv's and sofas. Based right next to town, 15 minute bus ride to tremough campus and 10 minute walk from woodlane. Accommodation policyParties are allowed, however security do come around every now and again to check up.
