The University
Overall Opinions
You can use this section to offer your overall opinions on the university. What one main thing would you like to highlight to future applicants?
UEA is a really friendly campus, very much a community of students. The fact that you have 'the square' which has loads of cafes and restaurants, shops including a post office, food shop, Waterstones and two banks makes it feel like a little town and if you live on campus in your first year it's only a five minute walk away. The students union has a nice cafe bar upstairs and two bars downstairs, so lots of space! UEA is a bustling campus with some traditional buildings and some new and modern ones, but it's also surrounded by lots of green spaces and a lake which is great to explore and chill out near in the summer.
The students union also offers so much to students, including societies, clubs, volunteering and campaigning loads of extra things to get involved in to make you stand out from the rest. It's also a great way to meet people although it sounds cliche you start to meet networks of people and you can have a really diverse experience.
The teaching standard is really high at UEA, lecturers are committed to their work and to their students. Each student is assigned an 'Academic Advisor' who will be there for them throughout their three years at university. They can go to them for help with studying and assignments, or any aspect of their student life. UEA is part of the 1994 group of research intensive university which means they pioneer in research and top quality teaching.
Campus - Buildings and Enviroment
Campus - Nightlife
The UEA's LCR is a nightclub and gig venue on campus, which over the years has seen bands play like U2, Coldplay, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Kasabian. It also hosts weekly club nights very popular with students!
The UEA's Union of Students also owns Norwich Nightclub and gig venue 'The Waterfront', which is also extremely popular with students for it's alternative mix of music. If live music and gigs is your thing, check out these popular venues: http://www.ueaticketbookings.co.uk/venues/default.aspx
In terms of clubbing, here are the main nightclubs in Norwich:
Mercy XS: A Superclub located on Prince of Wales Road
Tau: An Oriental club with 'secret garden'
Lola Lo: A Hawaiian themed club
Wonderland: (formerly project) Another Superclub with a fantasy feel
Loft NR1: Norwich's Gay Club with roof terrace
Kartel: (formerly Havanas) A very late night club with large roof terrace
Fluke: Nighclub and Lounge
Pulse: Initimate RnB and chart nightclub
Essence: A bar and nightclub with impressive garden
Mojo's: Bar and Nightclub
Karma Kafe: Vibrant city centre nightclub
There are also many bars in Norwich to socialise and dance in, too many to list! There really is something for every taste.
