LocationVanbrugh is located near the centre of campus - 30 seconds walk away from Market Square and overlooking the lake. It is also near Central Hall. DepartmentsThe History and History of Art departments are situated in Vanbrugh on the first and second floors. AccommodationSocial SpacesVanbrugh is situated next to Vanbrugh Paradise - a large open space next to the lake in front of the college. It is paved and has a few flower beds, but it rather run down. It's still nice to sit there is summer though and the place has been known to host events like the Summer Woodstock festival. GardensDining roomThe dining room in Vanbrugh underwent a major renovation a few years back to have a very modern canteen style serving area with numerous fridges holding sandwiches, drinks and cakes. There is also a self-service salad area and traditional canteen bars for snacks and more substantial hot meals. The seating itself is either in the bar area or the big Hall in Vanbrugh which contains huge round tables. BarYou walk past the bar to get to the dining room in Vanbrugh. It's quite a large bar that is more separate from eating areas than in some colleges, though it is still closely attached. JCRStudy rooms, lecture theaters and ComputingStudy RoomsLecture TheatresVanbrugh is home to one of the large lecture theatres - VO45 - sitated on the ground floor near the walkway down from Market Square and the Library. Try to avoid having to walk through Vanburgh between about o'clock and quarter past the hour during the day as it will usually be packed in that area with people waiting to use the lecture theatre next session. Computer SuiteThe Computer Suite is located in Block C of Vanbrugh, across the path from the lecture theatre and bar and is open 24 hrs a day, except for cleaning. It holds about 25 computers, including two 'easily accessible' ones for disabled people or those who need the screen to be magnified. It also houses a printer. All the Computer Suites on campus are open to all students and Vanbrugh is not used for IT practicals like some of the other suites in other colleges.
