The University of Wolverhampton was created in 1992 from Wolverhampton Polytechnic. The main campus is at Wulfruna Street in Wolverhampton itself (in the West Midlands) Though there are three other campuses of the university too based across the West Midlands and Shropshire.
Wolverhampton is a very well equipped University specialising in some very wide and varied courses. In addition to have the oldest undergraduate War Studies course in Britain , Wolverhampton also has a very well equipped Glass and ceramics department.
This variation goes to show that Wolverhampton is very much a University that is looking to the 'future' in the courses that it offers. While traditional courses are offered, Wolverhampton has one of the best psychology departments in the country, Wolverhampton focuses on the needs of the local demographic.
Each of the campuses has its own library, the biggest being the Harrison Learning Centre at City Campus. It is four floors high with a computer suite on the top floor. There are private study rooms for when you need a quiet space and group rooms for preparing group assignments. The whole areas are also wifi enabled so you can bring along your laptop and get down to some study!

Bars, Pubs and clubs
There are a number of bars, pubs and clubs around Wolverhampton city centre, and Walsall town centre. The majority also host special 'student nights', giving access to cheap drinks and deals with a valid uni ID card, or NUS card. The civic centre in the city centre also hosts a number of popular concert events throughout the year.
The union has approved clubs such as Babylon as student-safe nights out. The union officers and societies also hold a number of events within 'The Venue', which has a bottle bar on site.
An up-to-date list of UWSU events can be found at the website below:
Residences are offered on all Campuses and are all University owned with the exception of Fiveways Hall in City Campus. Different price ranges are available.
Following a year in halls, a lot of students choose to move into shared houses, or further accommodation with their halls' group.Wolverhampton Student Pad was set up to put all of this information in one place for you, so you can search for all types of accommodation, from a house share to a new halls of residence.
The University of Wolverhampton Students' Union (UWSU) has been established for over 80 years, and continues to this date to represent, support, and work with students to develop a quality environment for our current and incoming cohort.

Generally good. New students should be warned not to visit Legends, Sugar or walk via alleyways - especially Molineux alley - after dark. Walsall campus has a fantastic friendly environment, while Telford, Compton and Burton are quiet campuses where very little ever happens.
The locals are nice and (usually) polite, although racial tensions are sometimes (rarely) evident. It is strongly recommended that the local 'culture' is sampled, namely going to a Wolves home game. The supporters are some of the most passionate in the country, and although the football may not blow you away, the atmosphere will.
Wolves is not the prettiest place in the world to live, try coming in via train and you will see what I mean. But, the city has had a large student population for many years and a lot of the shops, bars etc. do have student nights and/or offer a student discount. Large parts of the University have been re-built in recent years and the main campus building is brand new.
The University is not one of the best in the league tables, that is a fact. However, that should not put you off too much, Wolverhampton is one of the quickest growing and improving Universities in the country. Subjects such as Psychology broke into the top 10 recently, and that is part of a wider growing trend.
