Exams can be a pretty stressful time for parents too. The majority of the time they are trying to say the 'right' thing, give you encouragement or show an interest in what you're going through. Sometimes though, the words don't come out in the friendly, supportive way that they were intended.

The TSR community told us what comments irritate them the most at this time of year.

When you're revising

"You're revising too much, your revising too little, you've not taken a break, your breaks are too long. You need to tidy your room, if I was you I could not concentrate in that mess"
Sound familiar? Here are the comments that drive you potty during revision.

"I got 74/100 in a past paper! That's an A!"

"Only 74?! What happened to the other marks?"

After your exam

There'll be times when you want to talk about an exam and there will be times when you definitely don't. Unfortunately parents don't have a radar which sends them a signal that lets them know that today's maths exam is not up for discussion.

"How did the exam go?"

"Bad."

"What do you mean it went bad?"
