When you're revising
"I got 74/100 in a past paper! That's an A!"
"Only 74?! What happened to the other marks?"
''Your cousin got an A* , you should be getting an A***''
"Oh don't worry honey, you have Internet to help you, in our time we had to find answers from books."
''You should be doing more work''
''What's the point? It's not as though you're getting into uni anyway''
After your exam
There'll be times when you want to talk about an exam and there will be times when you definitely don't. Unfortunately parents don't have a radar which sends them a signal that lets them know that today's maths exam is not up for discussion.
"How did the exam go?"
"What do you mean it went bad?"
"what grade do you think you'll get"
''Exams are easier now than they've ever been''
''It's lucky you've only chosen easy subjects''
"What happens, happens. We won't be disappointed."
"Well we all knew you weren't an A* student anyway, maybe this is the kick you need to get out of education and into the real world to start earn some money."
What things do your parents say that drives you bonkers?
