University Centre Shrewsbury facilities


University Centre Shrewsbury is based in the historic and cultural town of Shrewsbury: a bustling market town set within a loop of the River Severn with a thriving festival and art scene. It’s also the birthplace of Charles Darwin!

Library and study facilities

Our library is based within the main teaching and learning centre - Guildhall. With its convenient location of being near to the town centre and the town’s train station, it will include open access computer rooms that are available to students 24 hours a day, several lecture theatres, seminar rooms, and laboratories, in addition to library facilities and social spaces.

Careers service

You will be provided with a superb range of opportunities to help you gain the experience, skills and knowledge needed to succeed during your time with us and beyond. This is supported by information, advice and guidance services available at the University of Chester which have been nationally commended.

Student Union

The Students’ Union at Shrewsbury is involved in all extracurricular activity and student representation. All Students’ Union facilities are provided by the award winning Chester Students’ Union and are built on many years of providing a fantastic student experience.


University Centre Shrewsbury have links with many sports clubs in the town, who can offer exciting opportunities for participants of any level. At Shrewsbury Sports Village you can find a range of sports and leisure facilities, including a gym, a range of pitches and an indoor climbing wall. If watching sport is more to your taste then you may like to visit Shrewsbury Town Football Club, the Racecourse at Ludlow or watch the Shrewsbury regatta; an annual rowing event.

Medical and welfare Services

Our award winning Student Support and Guidance (SSG) team endeavour to empower students to achieve their full potential through the service that it provides. Incorporated within SSG is: Student Welfare; Student Skills Development; Disability Support; Student Counselling; and the University Proctor. It provides support for academic, financial or personal issues.
