As the leading University for the creative industries in the UK we have a spectrum of courses mapped to industry. Designed and adapted by commercial experts, they don’t just follow the latest trends, but anticipate the next – that’s why we’re at number 6 in the UK for graduate employability.
Falmouth now has over 5,000 students enrolled on one of its 37 Undergraduate and foundation courses. Our comprehensive portfolio uniquely and equally spans all of the creative art forms. Our facilities are pitched at industry standard and our professional staff members are experts in their field.
The University is situated on two main campuses: the historic Falmouth Campus, and the Penryn Campus, which has been developed with over £100 million of investment. The Falmouth Campus is positioned just a short walk from town and the famous Gyllyngvase beach. The Penryn Campus is shared with the University of Exeter in Cornwall and also houses our halls of residence.

Fees and Financial Support
Today’s creatives need to be digitally agile and internationally focused. This means having access to the right equipment and opportunities. At Falmouth we’re committed to helping you access these, regardless of your personal circumstances.
UK Students with a Cornish address at the point of application, which meet certain eligibility criteria, qualify for help with costs of equipment, placements and final year costs.
All UK and EU students with a household income of under £25,000 a year automatically receive a Materials Award which varies on size from £150-£400 a year depending on your area of study.
There are a number of scholarships available for overseas students who can demonstrate ambition, passion and dedication to their subject area. We currently have over 300 international students from 53 countries at Falmouth, and run an international society. Our campus also hosts major international calendar events such as Norwegian Constitution Day, Chinese New Year, Diwali, Mid-Autumn Festival and much more.
FXU is the only SU in the country to service two Universities. Falmouth and Exeter’s Student Union’s vision is that every student has the highest quality of education and best student experience possible during their time studying in Cornwall. The FXU aims to provide every student with equal representation throughout his or her time at University.
The Students Union also hopes to make your experience as fun and diverse as possible with a varying range of events and activities throughout the academic year. There is also a vibrant array of societies that you can join from Amnesty International to Fal Surf Society and even a Pokemon Society!

“Hi everyone! I’m Chris Slesser, your FXU Falmouth President 2016/17, and my primary role is to support you in all areas of your academic experience. I’m a recent graduate from the BA (Hons) Fine Art course and now work as a practicing performance artist alongside my presidency. You’ll find most people at Falmouth are creatives themselves with years of experience industry and plenty to learn from! Congratulations for getting this far, good luck for the years ahead and I can’t wait to meet you all when you arrive!”
This years Exeter University President is Tom Murray Richards:
“Hey! I am the FXU Exeter President 2016/2017. I represent all University of Exeter students in Cornwall, predominantly around their academic experience. We are an award-winning students’ union, bringing together Falmouth University and University of Exeter students to represent a diverse student group. Over the next year I am planning to improve the mentor scheme, introduce a loyalty card and lots more!”
We have invested £4m into our latest Sports Centre, which opens this autumn. The complex offers a multi-court sports hall, 90-station gym and vast fitness studio offering a busy class schedule.
If you wish to take part in a team sport the FXU run societies such as American Football, Slack-lining, Ultimate Frisbee, and capoeira. There are also great facilities nearby for varied water sports, such as surfing, paddle boarding and sea kayaking. We were recently named the world’s third top university for surfing by MPORA.
Library and IT Services
Named the UK’s joint top library in higher education, Falmouth University prides itself on an extensive collection of digital resources, magazines, journals and specialist material. You can access over 30,000+ titles on DVD, Blu-ray or to stream; image banks; news archives; business and creative databases; e-books and e-journals.
Open 24/7 and manned with a supportive team of librarians and archivists the library staff are able to help with every request. You are able to benefit from a range of study spaces and technical support team. Both campuses benefit from our on site Wi-Fi and open access IT suites.
• Should you break your computer or lose an important piece of work, you can take it to the technical team and they will help you fix your equipment for free.
Our learning hub is an award winning £10m building that encompasses meeting rooms, career zone, workspaces, lecture theatres and seminar rooms. Open workspaces are located on both floors of the exchange where you can find 6ft white boards and interactive television screens to help create a collaborative working environment.
The compass is a central point of contact and helpdesk for all your questions and support services, who will look to point you in the right direction.
Career zone is a place in which you can get help with rewriting your CV, finding a part time job along your studies, or finding that all important internship.

The University believes the health and welfare of every student is crucial, and that a supportive environment enables you to reach your potential. Whilst at University we strongly encourage students to register with a local GP practice and host a weekly Campus clinic at Penryn Campus!
We also have our professional Well being workers and a Living Support team that can offer support on matters such as anxiety, bereavement and mental health problems to topics such as student life, relationships, and academic concerns
Falmouth’s award winning accommodation gives students 11 different accommodation options, all of which are conveniently close to both Penryn and Falmouth campuses. We provide modern and well-equipped housing to meet various budgets and needs of our students.
All of our residences are self-catered, however food vouchers can be purchased and used at any of our bars and cafes.
Most of our accommodation is located within Falmouth and Penryn, however for students located in Treliske Halls, Truro we offer a Mussel Card (worth over £400) which offers free local transport on train, bus and ferry routes.
