Hi retroSword23! A good place to start would be looking at charities or organisations where you can volunteer to help out. This could be a charity shop, café, school, and you can also shadow people in certain professions. There is no harm in giving an organisation an email and asking if they could facilitate work experience over the summer!

Any experience would be great as you said, but is there a particular goal you have in mind for the experience - for example, are you wanting to get experience for a certain degree at university or are you trying to get experience for a job?

Talk to your immediate store manager asap regarding holiday if you are having a issue getting online to sort it out. You could also ask your department team leader or supervisor about this.

They can't force you to sort out any holiday for next shift as you can put your date in for when you want it off with the view you'll be honoured them as management can refuse staff holidays if there's not enough staff available for any given days. Don't presume you are getting your holidays you ask for until management approves it and let you know it's been sanctioned.

I work in retail part-time as well and we have to book holidays online as well unless there's a issue with the system then we get management to deal with it

I've signed up to so many tutoring sites as well as babysitting websites and facebook but no one seems to want any. I dont have many connections where i live so it is quite hard to find children to babysit, especially when the parents dont really know me. I think they would much rather go for the licenced adult with a driving licence rather than a teenager, even though ive lit done everything i can for expirience such as volenteering for girlguiding and having a first aid certification, so i dont know how im supposed to get into it

Maybe your university has a student ambassador scheme with remote options. For example I work here on the student room for my university!

Great questions!

1. With good organisation it is manageable and definitely worth it as I gain so much from part-time work that I believe alongside my studies will be beneficial in getting a job after uni. Also as I work for the university it is very flexible and I can choose to work more or less dependent on how busy I am at uni. However it does mean pay can vary.

2. The most annoying thing would be it can sometimes be frustrating when I see others without part-time jobs can easily spend more time on projects. I find with a creative course there is always something you could be working on or improve and I am always thinking about my projects and wanting to work on them.

I worked at an American summer camp through BUNAC before starting university and it was an incredible experience that I would recommend! I ended up working at a Girl Scout camp which was not necessarily what I was thinking of when I first applied, however I am really glad that I got placed there.

If the applications are still open then it is not too late, however it would be important for you to get started with the application and everything as soon as possible. I would recommend reaching out to the agency as they should be able to answer your questions and provide you with the most accurate information about their refund policy for if you do not get placed. Obviously waiting till 2028 would allow you to spend a lot more time preparing and researching, and would also mean that you could be a little more selective with the camp you work at.

Congrats on both! Working 40 hours while studying full-time is a massive grind, even for a Foundation Year. Definitely email the Admissions office now to see if they offer a part-time pathway or have a draft timetable yet. It's much easier to negotiate with your work once you know exactly which days you'll be on campus

stick to black or white clothes , trousers are a good idea as they are not too formal then , a nice shirt or top and you'll be fine , its better to look to formal than too casual

First of congrats on your university offer, well done!!😊 - work wise, I would reccomend sticking with your current hours until your a bit more sure on the amount of time you'll need for uni classes, studying and other commitments/social things! - i know when i started my course it was pretty overwhelming to sort a schedule and balance alongside work at first

Im in my 3rd year of university atm and generally I'm at campus ~4x a week flor classes, then i also have studying & + my part time job retail job & student rep job , generally i do about 14ish hours a week retail + ~2 hrs with campus tours & on here, i split this with some in the week & other bits and bobs (like right now lol, in between my studies) - I find this to be okay to manage and still gives me a day off in the middle of the week. Around holidays and less busy periods at uni i tend to pick up more hours - this could maybe be an option if your work is flexible with that sort of thing (:

With part-time study, would have to ask your university to see if thats an option, generally though wouldnt be going down that route unless working that much is unavoidable or you feel the work you already do is really going to affect your ability to commit to the full time course!

It would depend on how much you earned from your part time jobs.
It would be useful to do extra hours in the holidays though (e.g. in the summer and over xmas).
