Pathogens
Pathogens are microorganisms that enter the body and cause disease.
1 of 10
Bacteria
Bacteria are very small cells which can reproduce rapidly inside your body. They can make you feel ill by producing toxins that damage your cells and tissues.
2 of 10
Viruses
Viruses are tiny. Bacteria can reproduce rapidly inside your body. They live inside cells and reproduce until the cell cant hold anymore and bursts that is what causes illness.
3 of 10
Protists
Most protists are single celled. Some protists are parasites. Parasites live on or in living organisms and can cause them damage.
4 of 10
Fungal Disease
Rose Black Spot is a fungus that causes purple or black spots to develop on the leaves of rose plants. The leaves will turn yellow and drop off.
5 of 10
Disease Caused by a Protist
Malaria is caused by a protist. Mosquitoes pick up the malaria protist on an infected animal. Then the infected mosquito passes it on.
6 of 10
White Blood cells
Some white blood cells produce antibodies to fight the antigens. Other White blood cells consume the pathogens.
7 of 10
Vaccination
Vaccinations involve injecting small amount of dead or inactive pathogens. Theses carry antigens which cause your body to produce antibodies to attack them.
8 of 10
Bacteria Resistance
Bacteria can mutate which cause them to become resistant to antibiotics that we use. Meaning that they don't die to the antibiotics.
9 of 10
Antibiotics
Antibiotics actually kill the bacteria without killing the human cells so they are completely safe to use
