Structure
Atwood - Fragmented, broken narrative. // Shelley - Framed and embedded narratives - epistolary - multiple perspectives - in form of letters.

Perspective
Both authors use a first person narrative, used to make the story more believable as it reads as an actual account of non-fictional events.

Narrator
Both authors also use an unreliable narrator(s) - Offred admits that the story is a reconstruction and Victor leaves out crucial events. We question everything, as we would our real history.

Narrative ending
Both novels end ambiguously - any narrative closure, both endings reference the "darkness" - reflection of life, no one knows how our own narrations will end.

Differences
Atwood uses only one narrator, however the HN offer a take on the narrators story that reinforces the unreliability of Offred's narration. Shelley uses three narrators to highlight how narrators manipulate other's stories.
