Welcome to The Student Room!

You have found the UK's biggest online community for students, with more than 5 million visitors a month.

On our busy discussion forums, students can find support for every stage of their education, including making choices about university.

The Student Room exists for all young people – no matter your background or your aspirations. Whatever life throws your way, from taking GCSEs to landing a job to dealing with relationships, The Student Room community is here for you.

What you'll find on The Student Room

Our discussion forums are at the heart of The Student Room. Since our site launched in 2001, millions of students have contributed to conversations across all kinds of topics.

You'll find a place to talk about most things, but our busiest forums include:

  • Study Help, where you can get help with homework, exam revision and all things academic
  • Applications, for advice on making your Ucas application and getting the uni place you want
  • Universities, where you can chat with students and staff from unis across the UK
  • Careers, where you'll find help and support in taking your first steps into work

As well as student discussions, The Student Room publishes a range of supporting articles.

You'll find advice on exams and revision, including student experiences of working towards the best grades and expert advice from the exam board AQA on how to tackle exams.

We have a student finance section with articles written by the loans provider Student Finance England (SFE). Staff from SFE are also on the forums five days a week to answer individual student questions.

The Student Room also runs The Uni Guide, where you can find university profiles, reviews, course listings and application advice.

Who works at The Student Room?

The Student Room employs more than 40 staff who work to build and maintain the site. We also have a dedicated team of volunteers, who give their time to help ensure the forums are a friendly and welcoming space.

There are several specialist teams on The Student Room. People in these teams will have expertise in a particular area; they can help with answering questions related to that topic.

You'll be able to see if someone is part of a specialist team by looking at their username (which shows up above their post).

Specialist teams include:

  • Personal statement reviewers
Community members and volunteers who give students feedback on their personal statements
  • Clearing and applications advisors
Volunteers who are trained by Ucas to help the community with application questions
  • Official representatives
University students and staff (mostly), who can answer questions about their place of study

This article explains more about the specialist teams on The Student Room.
