Finding and using the forums

The Student Room is home to lots of different forums and sub-forums that may be hard to find. Here’s a quick walkthrough on how to navigate TSR and help you find the forum that you’re looking for.

Navigation bar

The nav bar can be seen at the top of every forum and thread right across The Student Room. The bar allows you to click on an area of the site that you are interested in.

If you want to browse the full list of forums, you can click on the “forums” link that can be found next to “My TSR”. If you hover your mouse over the forum button, a list of options will pop up; this will give you each main section on TSR and the most popular forums.

Forum list

The main sections are:

  • TSR community
  • Life and style
  • Hobbies and interests
  • Debate and current affairs
  • Study help
  • University help and courses
  • Universities and HE colleges
  • Careers and jobs

Finding forums

Once you have clicked on the “forums” link, a long list of forums will be shown and be split up in the sections listed above. Here’s an example of the TSR community section presented in the forums list:

You can now click through to the forum and/or sub-forum you wish to start a discussion in (Note: some forums might have several different sub-forums, these sub-forums can all be accessed from the main forums page).
