Recipe - pepperami rice - The Student Room


1 onion 1 pepper 6-8 mushrooms 1 tin/carton of chopped tomatoes 240g rice 500ml water/stock 4 Pepperami or other salami sausages Chilli powder Basil


Fry the chopped vegetables in a large frying pan or saucepan until slightly soft Add tin of chopped tomatoes then add rice Add water/stock to cook the rice Simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is soft to taste Chop the sausages into small pieces while the rice cooks Add chopped sausage pieces to the rice Add chilli powder and basil to taste


This is one of those recipes which you can add any vegetables you like to experiment or even just use up what you have. Try spring onions, leek, courgette etc. The spicy sausage adds a great amount of flavour to this meal all by itself, but if you like hotter food, use spicier sausages and/or more chilli powder. If you're not sure how much water/stock to add, keep some back and add more if the rice is still hard.
