Pain

Throughout life, you would experience many emotions; such as happiness, sadness, pain or joy. Hopefully you get to experience happier emotions but there are going to be moments when you would have to go through some tough times. Here are a few ways that you can cope with it.

 

1.       Temporary. Know the pain is temporary, that it would eventually be solved, and in the meantime you would have to be patience. Whatever situation you are currently; won’t be the situation you stay in forever.

 

2.       What can you learn from the situation? When going through something, try and find what you can learn from it. What did you do wrong? What could you do better? Try and see the positive and what you can gain from the situation. At the end of the day, you would be looking back and see how you have grown from the situation.

 

3.       Talk to someone. Try talking to someone and let them know what you are feeling. This can be your friend, family member or a therapist. Whatever helps you, you can choose to talk to someone, share what you are feeling and then have a discussion- what you can do, what you should do next or to know that you are right in what you are feeling.

 

4.        Let it go. Once the situation has been solved. Let it go. There is no point holding onto the pain and the amount of suffering in caused you. I know it is harder said than done. But it is important to know that once you let go, you would feel more free and able to focus on other things; like your future or your positive relationships. Compared to focusing on things from the past which bring up bad memories.

 

5.       While I am saying to let go. I am not saying to forgive. This one is quite tricky, as this depends on you as an individual. You can either chose to forgive or not to, either choices can make you a better person and that is what matters. How you would feel by choosing either options. By forgiving you are giving yourself closure on the situation and giving yourself the ability to focus on other things. Which means you would be less likely to recall the memory. However, it chose to not forgive, it gives you the capability to know not to let people treat you how they want to.
