You may wish to continue the dispute with Turkey and reclaim the land in the north for the Greek Cypriots.

Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, a member state of the European Union.

Important History: Cyprus was partitioned in 1955 after an invasion by the Turkish. To this day, Cyprus is divided with the UN holding a peacekeeping force on the border. The North of Cyprus (Turkish occupied) is not recognised by the international community. These events and the resulting political situation are matters of ongoing dispute.

Political composition: Republic of Cyprus is partitioned into two main parts; the area under the effective control of the Republic, comprising about 59% of the island's area, and the Turkish-controlled area in the north, calling itself the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and recognised only by Turkey, covering about 36% of the island's area. The international community considers the North as occupied territory of the Republic of Cyprus.

Republic of Cyprus was a founding member of the Non-Aligned Movement until it joined the European Union on 1 May 2004. On 1 January 2008, the Republic of Cyprus joined the Eurozone.

Economy: Despite being a prosperous nation, Cyprus became engulfed by the Eurozone crisis in 2012 requesting the need €1.8 billion of foreign aid to support the Cyprus Popular Bank and thus having its credit rating downgraded

Its main source of income is the tourist industry and property investment
