Battery life - Honor View 20 vs Huawei Mate 20 Pro

This category is pretty cut-and-dry - the Huawei Mate 20 Pro packs a higher capacity battery with added fast charging and wireless charging abilities in order to make it easily the better contender when it comes to battery life. That said, the Honor View 20 is absolutely no slouch and you’ll easily get just shy of two days worth of battery from a single full charge.

Camera - Honor View 20 vs Huawei Mate 20 Pro

Once again, the specs speak for themselves here, though in the opposite direction. The Honor View 20 was designed and built specifically with camera functionality in mind, so it stands to reason that this would be the phone of choice if you’re a budding photographer.

The Mate 20 Pro does still feature a hugely impressive camera set up and will give you some fantastic results, but the Honor View 20 has the slight edge that puts it over the top and makes it the winner of this particular category.

In-hand Feel - Honor View 20 vs Huawei Mate 20 Pro

Both of these handsets are relatively the same size (there’s under 1 mm in the difference in height, for example), both being on the larger side of the smartphone spectrum. Both screens are the same size, as well, though the main difference is found in the weight and overall heft of the Mate 20 Pro. Nearly 10 grams heavier than the Honor View 20, the device is noticeably heavier than its competitor.

At the end of the day, though, this is a minor quibble and in regular use, you’ll be hard-pressed to notice it, meaning these phones are largely identical in hand feel.

Screen - Honor View 20 vs Huawei Mate 20 Pro

Both of these phones have stellar displays and screen resolutions - we should get that out of the way first. With either of these devices, you’re getting a clear, crisp, high-quality display that will impress as often as it satisfies.

With that in mind, the clear winner here is in the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, with its much higher resolution and pixel count (538 pixels-per-inch vs the Honor View 20’s 398) as well as the AMOLED display. It’s a huge step up from the LCD seen in the Honor View 20 and is really quite brilliant to see in person.

Winner - Huawei Mate 20 Pro

The WOW Factor - Honor View 20 vs Huawei Mate 20 Pro

Perhaps the one benefit of being able to compare two of Huawei’s competing flagship smartphones is that the ‘Wow’ factor remains intact throughout both of these devices. In all honesty, whichever one of these phones you end up choosing, you’ll have yourself a device that will instantly impress anyone around you - the Mate 20 Pro with its gorgeous screen and Honor View 20 with its fantastic camera quality.

Ultimately, ending up with either of these Huawei phones will be a good move. You’ll end up with a smartphone that will serve you well for the years to come, be shiny and extra impressive, as well as being significantly future proof. Taking everything into account, however, the Mate 20 Pro narrowly takes the spot for our final recommendation with its significantly better screen, display resolution and battery life.
