Exam results incoming! Here's how to be ready

A-level results day is on Thursday 14 August 2025, and there's plenty you can do before that day to be fully prepared.

On The Student Room, you'll find support and resources to guide you through getting your grades - including how to get ready for university and how to find alternative options in Clearing.

Here's a quick guide to what's available.

1. Find out more about results day

Save our exam results hub as one of your bookmarks. From here you can get to our results days guides and all the main discussion groups.

I am so, so anxious but honestly reading through this thread has made me feel a little better.

I'll be coming up with a back-up plan (although I'm pretty set on a gap year if I miss my choices).

2. Read advice from uni application experts

University applications can sometimes get a little complicated, which is why we have Ucas-trained advisers on The Student Room.

You can ask them a question, or just read the advice they've given to others. Find them over in Applications, Clearing and Ucas.

Thank you to everyone in this thread, got an offer at Leicester following interview yesterday afternoon! Keep chasing your dreams!

3. Chat with other uni applicants

We've got a group chat for every single university in the UK, so you can hear from other people who have applied to the same unis as you. Find links to all of these in the uni applicant groups discussion.

4. Work out how Clearing might help you

It's a good idea to get your head around Ucas Clearing before results day. There are thousands of other course opportunities available, which people use to either trade up or find an alternative if they miss their offers. Read The Student Room's guide to Clearing to find out how it all works.

5. Get uni-specific advice on Clearing

Lots of uni reps are on The Student Room to provide Clearing advice - find links to them here

Thank you both so much for your great advice, it’s genuinely been a great hope.

Now I feel even better about myself!
