This year, exams were cancelled and students will be receiving grades calculated by their teachers on GCSE results day and A-level results day.
Anyone who’s unhappy with their calculated grades will be able to sit the optional series of exams being held in the autumn. Here’s everything you need to know about the autumn exams.
Exams will be offered for all subjects that should have happened in the summer, with AS-level and A-level exams running from Monday 5 October until Friday 23 October, and GCSE exams from Monday 2 November until Monday 23 November.

How long do I have to decide whether to take the autumn exams?
You should check with your school as they will probably have their own deadlines, but Ofqual has said that the deadline for entry to AS and A-level exams is 4 September.
The deadline for entry to GCSE exams is 18 September, except for English and maths, which has an entry deadline of 4 October.
What time will the autumn exams start?
For morning exams, most centres will start the exam at 9am and for afternoon exams, most will start at 1.30pm.
You should check timings with your exam centre before the day though, as they can start exams up to 30 minutes earlier or later than these times. Most exam centres will tell you to arrive at least 10 minutes before the exam begins.

GCSEs
When are the GCSE English and maths autumn exams happening?
For English language, the exams will take place on the morning of Monday 2 November and the morning of Wednesday 4 November.
The English literature exams are scheduled for the afternoon of Thursday 5 November and the morning of Thursday 12 November.
For maths, the exams will happen on the morning of Tuesday 3 November, the afternoon of Thursday 5 November and the morning of Monday 9 November.

When will I get my GCSE results from the autumn exams?
AQA has said that schools will be sent the results on Wednesday 10 February 2021, and students will receive them on Thursday 11 February 2021.

AS-levels and A-levels
When are the maths, psychology and biology A-level autumn exams happening?
Maths, psychology and biology were the top three most popular A-levels last year.
The autumn A-level mathematics exams are scheduled for the afternoon of Wednesday 7 October, the afternoon of Wednesday 14 October and the afternoon of Monday 19 October. The Pearson Edexcel Mathematics: Advanced Extension Award will take place on the afternoon of Tuesday 20 October.
The psychology exams will happen on the afternoon of Monday 5 October, the morning of Friday 9 October and the morning of Thursday 15 October.
For biology A-level, the autumn exams are happening on the morning of Monday 12 October, the morning of Friday 16 October and the afternoon of Tuesday 20 October.

When will I get my A-level results from the autumn exams?
