Geography aea

AEA Geography is the replacement, since 2002, of the defunct Special Paper system (S Levels), designed to test the top 10% of A level candidates. Similar to STEP papers, it is intended to be sat after A levels, in the last week of June.

It is offered by the WJEC exam board on behalf of the QCA.

What does AEA Geography involve?

Taking AEA geography should not involve additional teaching or classroom time - there is no coursework, just one three hour exam sat at the end of the general A Level examination period. While it is possible to go into an AEA Geography exam with no preparation and pass, some familiarity with the structure of the question paper is helpful.
