I am just looking to see what you guys think on how to treat diabetes naturally, and is it considered curable? I know the western medicine view, and spoke to a doctor (this is not for me btw) but I am trying to see what other types of healing is out there.......?

This really isn't the place to ask these questions. If you don't trust the doctor you spoke to, why would you expect a better answer from people here?

Diabetes is one of the most highly researched and best characterised diseases on the planet. Without knowing the patient and (at least) their type of diabetes, no-one (not least the people here) can provide any kind of meaningful advice.

Insulin dependent diabetics need insulin or they will die and this is not a disease for experimenting with "alternative" treatments. Non-insulin dependent diabetes can (sometimes) be treated with lifestyle changes alone but the patient's own doctor will know this very well. Most forms of diabetes can be managed (as above, sometimes without medication) but not cured.

the fact that you asked that shows your ignorance on how scientists work.

im done. not here to argue for the sake of arguing.

I just spent my day in a microbiology lab pipetting DNA extractions into PCR tubes. It was quite tedious. That's how scientists work.

Asking for you to support your claims with peer reviewed research papers from your scientist chums does not show my ignorance, it is a basic expectation in science.

He did say he spoke to a doctor and he was just asking what we thought about it, and not as a treatment.

In western medicine it cant be cured, but many people have cured it, both types using natural methods, yes its needed to be monitored by a doctor in some cases, so consultation is essential (to those reading for actual help).

here is another example: http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2013/may/12/type-2-diabetes-diet-cure

He asked for a peer reviewed scientific paper. And you provided him with an ancient Chinese medical text. Those are not the same thing.

Then afterwards you provided a link to a Guardian Article. As we all know, the Guardian is the epitome of factual correctness based on its "flawless" track record (lol). I can think of more than one case where the Guardian has been incorrect in what it has printed. Sorry, but until it is SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN that diabetes can be cured from diet alone, rather than 3 or 4 people claiming to be cured in a Guardian Article, then we have nothing to talk about and you are just another one of the millions of faceless internet users who claim things. All talk and no walk.

For the first and last time I will ask this; provide us with peer reviewed papers from these "top scientists" that you have been working with. Not sure why I am even asking to be honest, because why would someone working with top scientists even bother being an active member of the student room, of all places?

Hi, I'm considering to do Biology how did the U arise a lack of work ethic or was it just simply hard to get your head round in exam. I'm interested in your opinion as id rather not do a subject which could damage my results. I might be a coward but apparently biology is one of the hardest A levels I enjoy it at GCSE level how does this vary into AS?

As it happens, at the start of the year my teacher said I showed promise for the subject and even that I'd found my calling. It was all lack of work I'd say, so don't make the same mistake as me if you don't want to be as roundly ****ed, there's a lot of content and you can't afford to go of the ball at any point
Diabetes, (Both type one and type two) are serious conditions, they cannot be cured, only managed through lifestyle and medications depending on the type and severity of the disease. I would strongly advise anyone considering to try treating their diabetes using homeopathy or alternative medicines to speak with their diabetes consultant or specialist nurse prior to making any changes to your medication. It could have severe or even life threatening consequences.

I'm closing this thread now, while I understand people are wanting to debate this and are well meaning, this is the health advice section of the site and we can't allow people to start suggesting treatment to people that could be damaging to their health.

For further information on diabetes and how to manage it safely please see here: https://www.diabetes.org.uk/Guide-to-diabetes/
