Pure Heroine

It was... ok. Don't remember much of it, it did kind of become background music later on. It also doesn't help that sometimes Spotify gets stuck on an ad break, that's probably because of uBlock origin trying to skip them though.
400 Lux was good, Royals I recognised since it's quite earworm-y. I think 4.5/10.
Pink Moon was on the whole very pleasant. Not too long that it dragged on, either. But no one song really sticks out, so 6/10.
Nick Drake - Pink Moon

Pink Moon - YES. This is my kind of music. :yy:

Place to Be - Bittersweet. :yy:

Road - Fantastic guitar. :yy:

Which Will - Good. :yy:

Horn - Nice short instrumental.

Things Behind the Sun - Best so far. :yy:

Know - Interesting.

Parasite - Nice. :yy:

Free Ride - :yy:

Harvest Breed - Another very short one, pleasant though.

From the Morning - Fantastic. :yy:

8/10. Dark and beautiful. :rip:

Time for some post-Britpop with the Manic Street Preachers :ahee:

The Everlasting - quite nice

If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next - eh.

You Stole The Sun From My Heart - better

Ready for Drowning - nice

Tsunami - eh

My Little Empire - alright

I'm Not Working - alright

You're Tender and You're Tired - idk

Born A Girl - alright

Be Natural - ok

Black Dog On My Shoulder - eh

Nobody Loved You - better!

SY.M.M. - also good.

Hmmmmm 6/10. A bit too long.
This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours

The Everlasting - Pleasant enough, but it doesn't 'wow' me.

If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next - Oh, I've heard often this in years past, blaring from my brother's room. Good stuff. :yy:

You Stole the Sun from My Heart - Great. :yy:

Ready for Drowning - Nice. :yy:

Tsunami - Very nice. :yy:

My Little Empire - A bit meh.

I’m Not Working - Bit slow. :bebored:

You’re Tender and You’re Tired - Better. :yy:

Born a Girl - YES. :yy:

Be Natural - Okay.

Black Dog on My Shoulder - Had its moments.

Nobody Loved You - :yy:

S.Y.M.M. - Alright.

7/10 from me.
Manic Street Preachers - This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours

It starts off really good, I love the first 4 tracks but it's pretty mixed from then. 7/10

I'll try and get back to the albums I missed, have been a bit busy :colondollar:

Ray Charles - Modern Sounds In Country And Western Music

Bye Bye, Love - So upbeat and catchy, for such a sad topic! :yy:

You Don’t Know Me - Yes, this is exactly what springs to mind when I think of 'modern sounds'. Love it, though. :yy:

Half as Much - Alright. Not very varied in theme so far, though!

I Love You So Much It Hurts - Nice. :yy:

Just a Little Lovin’ (Will Go a Long Way) - Good. :yy:

Born To Lose - Okay.

Worried Mind - All starting to blend together now.

It Makes No Difference Now - Meh.

You Win Again - Better. :yy:

Careless Love - Bit slow for me.

I Can’t Stop Loving You - Genuinely though I'd heard this already, and the playlist had looped back! :colondollar: Nice, but so similar to earlier ones.

Hey, Good Lookin’ - This woke me up! :yy:

6/10. Which is probably a criminally low score for such a landmark album, but while each track was easy to listen to, most didn't stand out.

Poll has been updated
What better way to breathe life into a dead thread, than with an album that doesn't actually exist:

I didn't actually finish the Ray Charles one but it was quite nice. The mixing was a bit weird though, did they convert it from mono to stereo?
7/10 for that one, I think.

On to Smile :teeth:
So Smile is a weird album. Too weird for the rest of the Beach Boys even after Pet Sounds. But damn I wonder what it would've been like if they did release this back then. It's like their own Sgt. Pepper.

Favourite tracks from it are Heroes and Villains, Barnyard, Surf's Up, Vega-Tables, Wind Chimes and Good Vibrations (of course). And idk how many albums from this thread I've actually listened to but none of them sounded anything like this one.

I'd give it 9/10 at least.
The Beach Boys - Smile

Our Prayer - Pleasant enough wordless intro.

Gee - Okay.

Heroes and Villains - Nice to know the album does have some longer, more complete tracks! But a bit too odd for me.

Do You Like Worms? - :lolwut:

I’m in Great Shape - :dontknow:

Barnyard - I feel like I'd enjoy these as completed works. But as small snippets that end before they begin... eh? :hmmmm2:

The Old Master Painter/You Are My Sunshine - Okay, that was better. :yy:

Cabin Essence - Also good. :yy:

Wonderful - Nah.

Look (Song for Children) - Had its moments.

Child Is Father of the Man -

Surf’s Up - Nice. :yy:

I Wanna Be Around / Workshop - Sawing and banging.

Vega-Tables - Fair enough!

Holidays - Alright.

Wind Chimes - Quality. :yy:

The Elements: Fire (Mrs. O’Leary’s Cow) - My kind of creepy! :yy:

I Love to Say Dada - Liked the intro.

Good Vibrations - Ending on a true classic. :yy:

Overall, an interesting experience, but not all to my tastes. Hard to tell how much of that is simply due to the tracks being unfinished. As it is, 6/10
John Coltrane #2

My Favorite Things - Really enjoyed this. Felt like it had more structure than what I remember from the Blue Train tracks, though that could just be because I'm familiar with the original Rodgers and Hammerstein version - where it did deviate, it was nice. :yy::yy::yy:

Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye - Slower, shorter - more my preferred length, if I'm being honest. :colondollar: Liking the soprano saxophone. :yy::yy:

Summertime - Tenor sax is good too, though. :yy: Drums towards the 8 minute mark were a highlight.

But Not for Me - Yeah, probably not for me. :ahee: Had its moments. :yy:

7/10. Preferred side one.
My Favo(u)rite Things
I'm sure if I knew any kind of jazz theory I'd have far too much to say about this album, but I don't. And jazz music theory is quite a rabbit hole.
Doesn't mean I can't like it a lot though! especially Summertime. that's 8/10 I think
