The Alan Parsons Project

I Robot - Synthy instrumental goodness. :yy:

I Wouldn’t Want to Be Like You - Catchy! :yy:

Some Other Time - Really liked this one! :yy:

Breakdown - Good. Loved the dramatic chanting outro. :yy:

Don’t Let It Show - Best on Side 1. :yy:

The Voice - Robot voice YES. :yy:

Nucleus - Dreamy, relaxing. :yy:

Day After Day (The Show Must Go On) - Nostalgic, and depressing. Good stuff. :yy:

Total Eclipse - Unsettling, creepy. Also good stuff. :yy:

Genesis Ch.1 V.32 - Didn't like this as much as the earlier instrumentals, TBH.

9/10 overall. Great theme.
I Robot
Alan Parsons was the production engineer on Dark Side of the Moon. Main reason why I picked this. Not listened to it before. Anyway,

I Robot - tickled my brain there! Almost sounded like a PMD soundtrack for a bit.

I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You - first heard it in GTA V. I liked it then, I like it now

Some Other Time - nice horns.

Breakdown - nice.

Don't Let It Show - quite different, melancholy

The Voice - nice.

Nucleus - alright. Didn't really notice it.

Day After Day - quite chill. I liked.

Total Eclipse - TUURN ARRROUUUUUND oh wait no. Alright

Genesis Ch. 1 V. 32 - fairly epic.

8/10
Pixies - Surfer Rosa

Bone Machine - Yep, my brother definitely used to play their music a lot. Nice to be able to match it to a band! Good intro. :yy:

Break My Body - Similar to the above, but shorter.

Something Against You - Apparently there were lyrics in there somewhere?

Broken Face - Absolutely crazy. :yy: And probably very dark.

Gigantic - Fun. :yy:

River Euphrates - Yet more innuendo. :giggle: :yy:

Where Is My Mind? - Not bad. :yy: Surprised to learn this is one of their bigger hits, though.

Cactus - More like it! :yy:

Tony's Theme - Okay?

Oh My Golly! - Getting weird!

Vamos - :dontknow:

I'm Amazed - :erm:

Brick Is Red - Better. :yy:

7/10, preferred Doolittle.
Not got my laptop for a week from tomorrow, ability to follow albums will be quite limited
Elvis Presley2

Blue Suede Shoes - Has to be one of the best starts to an album ever. :yy:

I’m Counting on You - Lovely. :yy:

I Got A Woman - Lyrics haven't aged well! Sounds nice aside from that, but no match for Ray Charles' original.

One-Sided Love Affair - BRILLIANT. :yy:

I Love You Because - Sweet. :yy:

Just Because - Alright.

Tutti Frutti - Again, prefer Little Richard's original, but this cover isn't bad. :yy:

Trying to Get to You - Good. :yy:

I’m Gonna Sit Right Down and Cry (Over You) - Fine.

I’ll Never Let You Go (Lil’ Darlin’) - Cute. :yy:

Blue Moon - LOVE this version. :yy:

Money Honey - Some lyrics never age. :yy:

9/10

Billy Joel - An Innocent Man

Easy Money - A grand, energetic intro. :yy:

An Innocent Man - Nice. :yy:

The Longest Time - So upbeat, I love it! :yy:

This Night - Brilliant. :yy:

Tell Her About it - :yy:

Uptown Girl - A classic, with good reason. :yy:

Careless Talk - This album just keeps delivering! :yy:

Christie Lee - Definitely getting that Little Richard sound from this. :yy:

Leave a Tender Moment Alone - Cute. :yy:

Keeping the Faith - And that's 10/10. :yy:
An Innocent Man
Enjoyable to listen to, and more songs that I recognised than I expected to. Favourite was An Innocent Man, though the ones near the end were less interesting.
8/10
Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation

Teen Age Riot - Pleasant, especially the intro. :yy: Felt a bit long though... and it's on the shorter side for this album, looking at the tracks ahead.

Silver Rocket - Meh start and ending, but with an interesting noise in the middle.

The Sprawl - Yeah, too long (sprawled?) for my tastes. Instrumentals were nice, but the lyrics did nothing for me.

'Cross the Breeze - This was a bit more exciting. :yy:

Eric's Trip - Nah.

Total Trash - I wouldn't go that far, but certainly not my cup of tea.

Hey Joni - Okay.

Providence - I don't usually know what to make of these kinds of tracks, but for whatever reason, I liked this one. :yy:

Candle - Not bad. :yy:

Rain King - Meh.

Kissability - Almost, but not quite.

Trilogy - A) had great lyrics, but the vocals still don't do much for me. B) was meh. Z) was noise.

4/10. Even the short tracks felt dragged out.
Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation
Riiiight well it was alright, didn't think any of the tracks were bad but there were very few that i liked. Teen Age Riot was good, so was 'Cross the Breeze and Candle was alright.

5/10
Alive 2007

Robot Rock / Oh Yeah - The only problem with live albums is that, for me at least, the crowd noise adds nothing. Aside from that, solid intro. :yy:

Touch It / Technologic - Great stuff. :yy:

Television Rules the Nation / Crescendolls - Recognised the Crecendolls part in the second half! Not sure about the remix as a whole, though.

Too Long / Steam Machine - Okay, but too long indeed.

Around the World / Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. :yy:

Burnin'/ Too Long - Much preferred the previous Too Long mix. Some of the high pitched noises early on were especially hard on my ears.

Face to Face / Short Circuit - First part didn't do much for me; Short Circuit part was good, but much shorter.

One More Time / Aerodynamic - Original One More Time is better, but this was fine. :yy:

Aerodynamic Beats / Forget About the World - Pleasant background music, but didn't hold my attention.

Prime Time of Your Life / Brainwasher / Rollin' & Scratchin' / Alive - Bit more interesting.

Da Funk / Daftendirekt - Decent. :yy:

Superheroes / Human After All / Rock'n Roll - :dontknow:

5/10. Not my genre, most tracks were just a little too repetitive.
Adding David Crosby - For Free to the backlog. I'm curious to hear his more recent solo stuff.
I think 6/10 for Alive 2007, bit better than the last album but I did get bored with it. It was pretty inventive, and I'm sure actually seeing them live would have been quite the experience.
Album #240

The Sex Pistols - Never Mind the *******s Here's the Sex Pistols

Runners up with at least one vote added to the backlog.
Some thoughts on Nevermind the Ballsacks*, Here's the Sex Pistols

The chorus in EMI sounds more like EMA with a hard aussie accent

Anarchy in the UK my favourite song on the album

what the hell are the lyrics in New York

Other than that, they were very good in the rest of the album

7.5/10

*whilst there are rules against circumventing the swear filter, I think it's justified
Here’s the Sex Pistols:

Holidays in the Sun - Off to a good start! :yy:

Bodies - Powerful. :yy:

No Feelings - Really liked this. :yy:

Liar - Also good. :yy:

God Save the Queen - A classic. :yy:

Problems - :yy:

Seventeen - Alright, but didn't stand out as much as previous tracks.

Anarchy in the U.K. - Prefer God Save the Queen personally, but still solid. :yy:

Submission - Different, I like it! :yy:

Pretty Vacant - YES. :yy:

New York - Not so keen on this.

EMI - Decent enough.

9/10 from me.
