Blur - Modern Life Is Rubbish

For Tomorrow - Didn't like it at first, but... it's a catchy earworm. Grew on me massively as it went on. :yy:

Advert - Alright.

Colin Zeal - Meh.

Pressure on Julian - Feels like each new track is less to my tastes than the last. :colondollar:

Star Shaped - :dontknow:

Blue Jeans - Better! :yy: Very nice sound.

Chemical World - Nah.

Sunday Sunday - At least it was short.

Oily Water - :noway:

Miss America - Liked the instrumentals, and the slower, quieter vocals were decent too. :yy:

Villa Rosie - Passable.

Coping - Not bad, but it didn't wow me.

Turn It Up - Pleasant. :yy:

Resigned - Too slow. At least the 'hidden' instrumental at the end woke me up again!

4/10. Modern Life Is Rubbish Is Rubbish. Okay, bit harsh, but I definitely expected more from Blur.

I have a habit of listening to these and then forgetting to review for several days.
This one I nominated again based off NME's top albums list (as I did with Radiator) and it's bringing me to the conclusion that that list is filled with n'importe quoi.
LIke, it was alright... didn't like it anywhere near as much as the one Oasis album we had, first half a bit boring, second half more interesting.
Another 5/10
Backlog is empty, so I'll add 'Björk - Vespertine' from the previous poll (think it got a vote shortly before the new one was added), and 'The Mothers of Invention - Freak Out!' as my own suggestion.

As always, we're accepting album suggestions!

The Gambler

The Gambler - A classic. :suith:

I Wish That I Could Hurt That Way Again - Lovely bittersweet tune. :suits:

The King of Oak Street - Good. :suitd:

Making Music for Money - Nice change of pace. :suitc:

The Hoodooin' of Miss Fannie Deberry - YES :suith:

She Believes In Me - Solid. :suits:

Tennessee Bottle - Love it. :suitd:

Sleep Tight, Goodnight Man - Sweet. :suitc:

A Little More Like Me (The Crucifixion) - Alright.

San Francisco Mabel Joy - Bit similar in sound to The Gambler.

Morgana Jones - Brilliant. :suith:

9/10.

hmmm... there hasn't been a Radiohead album in the 200s has there? I'll go with In Rainbows
Also:

Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
Tom Waits - Bone Machine
Talking Heads - Speaking In Tongues
(various) - We Out Here
Just listened to Kenny Rogers. Not a genre I listen to... almost ever, but definitely enjoyed it. Probably should've paid attention to the lyrics more.
7.5/10
Bone Machine

Earth Died Screaming - Fantastic instrumentals! :yy: Vocals are good too, though hard to make out the lyrics at times.

Dirt in the Ground - Powerful. :yy:

Such a Scream - Okay?

All Stripped Down - Interesting, but not my kind of sound.

Who Are You - Lovely. :yy:

The Ocean Doesn't Want Me - Short, dark, atmospheric.

Jesus Gonna Be Here - Especially clever lyrics, like how he somehow made "Hollywood be thy name" work! :yy:

A Little Rain - Bittersweet, I like. :yy:

In the Colosseum - Alright.

Goin' Out West - EPIC. :yy:

Murder in the Red Barn - Decent, if a bit long.

Black Wings - Creepy! :yy:

Whistle Down the Wind - Good. :yy:

I Don't Wanna Grow Up - :yy:

Let Me Get Up on It - 53 second interlude. :dontknow:

That Feel - Fine.

Another 9/10 for Tom Waits.
Bone Machine
I expected I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much as Mule Variations, what I didn't expect was that utterly filthy bass tone on Goin' Out West. It's dank in the original sense of the word. It's as gravelly as his voice. That was definitely a highlight. Black Wings also a very good one.
Thought a few of the songs were a bit too stripped-back, mainly the first half. So I doubt it'll make regular listening for me.

Wow I haven't seen this many votes on the poll in a long time
Aretha Franklin

Respect - I throw around the term classic a lot, but this is truly a CLASSIC. :yy:

Drown In My Own Tears - Not really my thing.

I Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You) - Alright.

Soul Serenade - Better. :yy:

Don't Let Me Lose This Dream - This had so many 'baby baby's towards the end that I had to check I hadn't skipped a track. :giggle:

Baby, Baby, Baby - Liked this one. :yy:

Dr. Feelgood (Love Is A Serious Business) -

Good Times - Fun chorus. :yy:

Do Right Woman, Do Right Man - Good. :yy:

Save Me - Great instrumentals. :yy:

A Change Is Gonna Come - Didn't do much for me.

6/10 - I know I'm massively underrating this, but it's just not my genre, and nothing else came close to the opening track.

I Never Loved A Man The Way etc
This is more my genre and I did enjoy the rest of the album - varied enough, too. 8/10
Interesting recent choices of albums, none of which I have listened to yet.

Mm I guess the last 4 definitely have been quite varied
Talking Heads - Speaking In Tongues

Burning Down the House - Crazy fun! :yy:

Making Flippy Floppy - Love it :yy:

Girlfriend Is Better - This charted at #99 in the UK? Underrated for sure. :yy::yy:

Slippery People - Great chorus. :yy:

I Get Wild/Wild Gravity - :ditto: :yy:

Swamp - Quite different in sound to the rest of the album so far, but not bad. :yy:

Moon Rocks - Good funk. :yy:

Pull Up the Roots - Solid. :yy:

This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody) - Lovely. :yy:

Great from start to finish, 10/10 :congrats:
