Doesn't matter where you go - civil engineering will always be the most boring form of engineering one could possibly imagine.

Dentists always have jobs, and they too are well paid, probably more so than civil engineers. But you wouldn't do that because, as we all know, it's a sad, depressing job with one of the highest suicide rates among any profession.

If you choose your life career based on pay and job availability, you're missing the point of life, and you'll end up hating the majority of your life, or at least, finding it mediocre.
Lboro is really good for engineering and has lots of industry links as far as I am aware.

if your going for prestige then loughboroughs the best on the list for engineering (not that i advise choosing a uni on that OP- visit them again and speak to people etc and see where you want to be)

I'm doing Mech Eng at Loughborough. It's badass.

Although there's a chance I may be biased.

Well I am doing MechEng but I would definatly count out Brunel and Warwick, and I too have Nottingham, Loughburough and Bristol on my list and I am swaying towards nottingham though I havn't visited Bristol or Loughburough yet. Loughburough seems too modern for me though, there's not enough history there. Polytechnics (N). (spl?)

i really want to go warwick become of the general engineering in the first and 2nd year. so i can then pick the field i want to go to. also that warwick is a very good university. and if i want to go into finance or another field warwick will be my best option.

I'v applyed for Mech Eng there and had offers, does the fact that it is not a university stooped in history not make you regrette a bit? What were you other choices?
I know loughburough is one of the best in the country for MechEng it's just... "I'd rather be a toff than a polly."
Bristol/Loughborough - Firm
Warwick - Insurance

I'd go for Bristol Firm, Notts insurance.

This might not be much help, but I know at least for mechanical engineering Loughborough and Bristol are insane. I absolutely LOVED Loughborough when I visited it on the UCAS day thing, and I can't yet comment on Bristol as I do not visit there until February. If I were you I'd try and arrange a visit and see for yourself.

To be fair, I think it more than makes up for its lack of history with its reputation in industry. Had I not got an Oxford offer, I would definitely not have been disappointed going to Loughborough (however I want to do a general engineering course first, then specialise, so I'll (hopefully) be going to Oxford). I really liked the place when I visited, and the facilities were awesome. Plus, everything was shiny!
