Hahahaha, you're too kind dude  Don't woz about the GCSEs, plus if your school is bad, they will definitely take that into account - THEY MUST! Otherwise they are complete *insert swear word here*s. GOOD LUCK MUIJ!!)

I meant on a grand scale of things Glen :P THESE UCL CANDIDATES ARE MENTAL!! :'(

There is hope for us all - Plus there is always element of luck ofc  Hahaha Glen, I think they may be looking at AS predictions and stuff as well quite sternly...lots of people in my school got 3-4 A* predictions...so I on paper I am the interior candidate in most cases :P

I think LSE might be sending rejection already....but very sparsely because a lot candidates who receive offers will end up rejecting them...so you may effectively be on a long waiting list

Goood luck eveeerrryyy booodddyyyy! x x

UCL rejecting you is nuts. I'm ****ting myself even though i haven't applied this year (applying next year for pure econ) knowing they could criticise an academic profile likes yours

Next year may well have less competition, it is likely fewer people will go to uni with £7k (or at UCL maybe £9k) per year fees.

Hahahaaha, I'm sure you'll make it next year!! I don't think I took last year as seriously as I should've...:P I know all this A* grade palarva looks like effort (!!) but in all fairness Universities are all about the predictions and trust me, work smart, listen in all your lessons and you can easily get over 90% and that coveted A* prediction (90%+ is the criteria in my school  It's really not that bigger deal imo ;D) In A2 I know it is slightly more difficult, but lets be honest, the most difficult offer you will receive is A*AA, so work your bum off this year and next year you can just take it easy and get the necessary grades!! (I'm guessing that people even with 4A* predictions are getting rejected from UCL which is pretty crazy ahahaha :'O)

Glen_Nichols is right, the application rate will probably go down next year but it never hurts to expect that it'll get a whole lot more competitive and absolutely maximise your academic record

So Work Hard, Play Hard! (....but ideally, play only a 'lil :P)

Pfft - no!

I ran out of Prussian Blue. Damn rivers :colonhash:

Unlucky about UCL - I know someone going for E+M at Oxford that seemed like a shoo-in who was also turned down. That leaves a not-so-pleasant waiting period for those of us left.

I see you're going for land economy - what prompted that? Are you worried about the interview (that they may bring up topics related to the subject that are a little over your head, perhaps), or are you prepared for that? I remember considering that but had a colossal change of heart and just went for pure econ instead.

I was going to apply for pure econ aswell, but went the way of land econ after doing some work experience in a law firm, loved it and realised I had no idea what i wanted to so i wanted to keep my options as wide open as possible  but ive been reading a lot of development econ books, and will probably read a law book and a real estate book, as the DoS is a specialisist in it at pembroke, which college did you apply to?

Interesting you should mention that, because I also did work experience at both a barrister's chambers and a solicitor's firm and enjoyed both. I was probably going to apply for law, until i picked up a book on jurisprudence and realised it just did not at all appeal to me. i still haven't ruled out a conversion course after my degree to become a lawyer, but law as a major part of my degree course is definitely not for me.

Im applying to Peterhouse (yeah, gay and tory har har :hand:) - just belted out a 6 pager for their set essay. Whether what I said is any good or not is a different matter altogether, though.. did Pembroke ask you for anything extra?

Yeah the UCL thing was stressful... staying hopeful though

A rejection from UCL but an interview at Cam - not bad i think
Applied to: Cambridge, LSE, Durham, Leeds and Royal Holloway

so far only got: Royal Holloway, ABB offer (backup)

yeah not that gutted really. grateful cambs have given me a chance. on the saq I got to say why i couldnt take FM and stuff - that might have worked in my favour wheras ucl might have just thought 'this kid couldnt be bothered'
thing is i only got AABB in AS, and as far as ucl were concerned i got all A at AS cause i didnt disclose AS grades on ucas. been doing mock TSA and getting like 85%, I reckon i have a fair shout.

Yeah i had to send off two pieces of written work, which I've done this term and I have no idea what to send off, because the only essay related subject I do is econ :s-smilie: on the site it only said i had to interview not send in essays but i dont mind
what did you have to do the essay on?

Ahh i should have wrote why i didn't take FM for a levels. Oh well  Do you mean you didn't disclose module grades on UCAS? because you had to disclose the actual cashed in grades. I got AAABB at AS and retaking one B to get an A. Cam does ask for 80% overall at AS so i wonder how much that will disadvantage me.

85% on the TSA is really good! My college doesn't ask for it (i think) but i find it oddly entertaining :s

for the AS levels i am carrying on to A2 i just put pending, and i put down my english AS at grade A.

nobody at my school put down AS grades on ucas, even those with AAAA. thought you couldn't.

That's odd, i thought it was compulsory :s-smilie: I put pending for my A2, but mentioned all my AS.
