I dont' mind but it is an Abitur offer as I am from Germany so I doubt that it will help you.
I have 12 to 13 out of 15 in adavanced Chemistry but my other advanced class is German. Biology an average of 12 to 13 out of 15 and Physics only 10 out of 15. Math I got 14 out of 15.
But actually these grades do not really matter as they ask for an overall average of 1.9 to 2.1 and currently I am predicted a 1.5.
Good luck to you!:crossedf:

ahh okay, well thanks for replying anyway and congratulations on the offer!

I can't believe I've just got an ABB offer from Durham for biomedicine, even though I've been predicted AAA! I hope I'm set now

Well I got an email at about 7pm this evening, telling me I had the offer, and to check Track, by which time it had already updated.

They're probably still processing many int'l applicants, so don't worry and they may well get back to you later this week. As you say, who knows

I live in Washington DC =]

Yeah the thing that I think is great about languages is that they're applicable to so many different areas. I think I'd like to work in the foreign service and think that studying languages would be a good place to start working towards that and then maybe studying international relations or politics at a post graduate level, but who knows how it'll happen =P

cool! what other universities have you applied to? what has made you want to come and study in the uk?
i really have no idea what job i would like to do.. i've thought about lawyer and journalist in the past but haven't really got a clue anymore. so languages is perfect for me at the moment

In the UK I've applied to Oxford, Durham, St Andrews, Bristol & Manchester and I've also applied to McGill in Canada and University of Maryland here in the states =]

Well my dad is english and I'm a dual national so there was that. I just like the idea of being able to specialise in what I want to study right away instead of spending two years fulfilling some other maths and sciences requirements haha. I also have gone to the British International School here so I've had the British education system since year 9 (bar A-levels) and it's worked so far =]

Also applied to McGill. But their decision doesn't matter anymore, I'd take Durham any day over it! Montreal does not sound too appealing lol. Did you only apply to Maryland in the states? I think I went a bit overboard applying to colleges in the states, I probably could have just applied to two and called it a day...but no for some reason I wanted to be super safe with my options.

Yeah I'm kinda in the same boat now, I only really wanna make my Durham offer and go there at this point =P

Yeah I decided I only wanted to apply there, I had my common app all set up to apply to Dartmouth and UPenn as well but after I got my Durham offer I think I decided that not only did I not have the money to pay for my application fee, but my heart wasn't really in it and I had another offer from Manchester that I could definitely make if something went amiss. Where have you applied?

Ooh, you do drama? I love drama! And music as well - I'm hoping there's a good Orchestra at Durham (or wherever I end up!) I have some friends applying to Rada and others, but I always thought it was just as good to go somewhere like oxford/durham/cambridge and join the drama stuff there - and you get a good degree out at the end of it! I love the look of Oxford and Durham and I sooo want to get into either of them!! Ooh, what college is your brother at? Definately! I think I'll be needing some post interview drinks, should I get an interview! PM me if you get an interview too - or hear anything from either Durham or Oxford.

Yeah, I sent off two too, but as I don't do R.S or Philosophy or anything I had to send off one essay from History and one from English Lit. I'm not sure whether they're good enough though...my history was the essay I'm writing for my coursework (on Woodrow Wilson), but I haven't finished editing it, so I had to send of my first draft. My English got 27/30, which I consider very good for me, but I don't know what it will be like compared to people (such as you!) who are predicted all A*s. It's annoying that I haven't studied either Philosophy or Theology, as I feel I'm at a bit of a disadvatage, though technically it doesn't matter. Oh well, que sera sera!

I only mentioned 4 books/authors and I'd already read two of them, so I only have two to go! I need to read Plato's Republic as in my personal statement I made links with political philosophy and communism etc to link in with my history work and I need to read up on St Thomas Aquinas for the Theology side. I haven't really made the two subjects link, as I like political and mathematical philosophy on the one side and pure theology on the other.

I got my letter from Nottingham through the post today! It was soaking wet, so I had to dry it on the radiator, haha. Are you going up to the post-application open day in february or march? We may see each other then!

Haha yeah we have very similar reasons for wanting to go to Oxford/Durham etc due to drama/music connections! My brother is at exeter college (opposite Jesus - the one me and my boyfriend have applied to) ... speaking of my boyfriend, me and him have applied to the same unis (and colleges) as eachother! We didn't plan to, it is just how our choices went, so fingers crossed we end up at the same uni as i've been with him for three years :h:

Your essays sounds good and they'll impress them because you've made links into your history A-Level which is pretty nifty! My essays were marked at 28/30 to make them look real and not tampered with etc, so don't worry about grades on the essays!

Soaking wet? Yowza lol. I still havnt received a letter from Warwick and it says on ucas that I go a conditional offer, like, 3 weeks ago. Hmmm..
I may go to that Nottingham open day, depending on if I have any other offers by then. My top 3 unis I wanna go to are Oxford, Warwick and Durham. Durham is my least fave because it is about 7 hours away from where I like *sad face* ... is it close to where you're from?

Haha, not really! I do play in a lot of ensembles of all kinds of music, though  And you?
That's very impessive being such a high standard at your instruments when you don't even want to study music! I decided against doing any diplomas because I just wanted to find pieces I liked and play those rather than constantly finding stuff from exam lists!

Original post by LukethePianoMan
ye after my diploma im goign to find some good pieces to play
my mum doesnt see the point, but I do, and ill try and keep it up at uni, trying to get into a few concerts, stuff like that

YAY, music people!

I'm applying for History but really want to continue with my music... I'm grade 8 clarinet and saxophone, and hopefully piano soon. I'm kind of dithering over whether to do a diploma on clarinet, though I'm taking a gap year so I may well consider it!

Don't know, applied in september and nothing until yesterday when my AES changed to
V100 History - ft
•Your application has been received by a College
•A decision has not yet been made. Please visit the UCAS website for further details

So hopefully they'll make decisions soon!

Original post by nofish4u
Either you are trolling or Woohoo finally some progress... I emailed the history department and they said there would be no decisions until after the Jan deadline for v100 .... If yours really has been moved to college hopefully I'll get some movement in the next week

I don't think that person's trolling - my AES updated today and says it's at a college, and I've applied for history  really hope it's at the one I chose (Hatfield) - I sent my application on 30 Sep so they better not be full yet

I've learnt Latin for about 7 years now, but I've done Greek only since last year. I have two friends doing Classics at Cambridge (I met them on a summer school in Britain), but they're at other colleges. Do Cambridge invite many classicists for interview (like Oxford)? When do they invite and when do they have their interviews?

Cambridge usually give out invitations to interview around the middle of november, which is now. However I'm still waiting on any response. Pembroke's interviews run from the 8th December to the 15th.

Hm, equally exciting here! We had the first invitation to interview in our Oxford applicants thread yesterday, and we think that the people who haven't done an admissions test yet will hear soon (I'd have mine in Oxford).
Good luck and good patience!

Ooooh, that's good, looks like they're moving things along, then! I applied on 8th October, so hopefully they'll get round to me soon-ish, haha.

WOOP, same my AES updated today  and for the same college ... doing Geog though
fingers crossed - has your ucas updated yet?
How long does it take for the AES to say received by the department? Mine only says it has been received by the university? Sent my application off on Wednesday last week.

Nope, no sign of anything on UCAS. From what I've heard we might only be waiting for a day, but it could be up to weel :s-smilie: I applied to Hatfield before I heard about its reputation for being reeeeeally posh, so hoping that if I end up there it'll prove me wrong
