How to compose equations from branched compounds

How do i write the product of a substance when one of the reactants is already branched e.g

2-methylpropanoyl chloride with water

i know the product of this will be an carboxylic acid, but how do i incorporate the branched chain.

this also

e) 2-methylpropanoic acid with sodium carbonate

how do i predict where the branched chain will be?

many thanks.

It's only the functional group that changes in the reaction. All of the branching remains the same..

-COCl becomes -COOH

everything else unchanged...
