I've had an offer for Law starting 2011 :biggrin:D I thought the campus is a bit dodgy... Mile End isn't too nice... But overall, is the area anywhere near decent?

To be honest, you may be a lil bit disappointed with it. Someone's already answered the question for me.
From the outside, one will not lie by saying that the area ( Mile End ) is not the best looking etc. East End floats in tons of immigrants, it's nothing like West End, where other UoL colleges are located.
However, once you're withing the campus, you won't feel that. It's like a different, self-existent entity. Btw, it's the biggest urban campus within London. No other uni in London can boast such a thing. I am sure that once you're inside of it, you'll like it, and eventually, get used to it. Accommodation is supposed to be the best one within the UoL colleges. I cannot, however, be trusted on it entirely as I live near Liverpool Street Station, which is pretty much in the City of London, the true and historical centre of London. I simply commute.
Yet, on the campus, people like it, as well. So they say, at least.
That's the point, of which you have to be aware. People from our rival UoL colleges usually say that Mile End, so our Uni, as a logical consequence, "is a terrible place." You could not be more misguided than that. Like I said, from the outside, it may appear so. Yet, once you are within the campus, it's a different world, of which only LSE may be proud. Their campus is lovely, too.
On the other hand, look at UCL's law department building. It is awful, both inside and outside.
Any opinion works both ways.

I'd like to add one more thing to my comment.
I was interviewed at St. Hugh's College, University of Oxford. Yet, then, was held unsure for over a month and finally told that there would, unfortunately, be no place for me. I rejected all the other offers ( Durham, UCL, RGU ) and went on looking for another alternative school that I'd like.
I did a hell of research and went for QM. Now, I cannot regret. Had it been any other Oxford college than St. Hugh's, I would be possibly crying now.
The conclusion is that - go, see and research on any university on your own. Don't you ever draw any final conclusions from comments like this. They should only be an addition, a first spark that makes you want to go and see it for yourself. Nothing more.

I hope I helped, at least to some extent.

I'll be applying for Physics.

have you visited the university? I would strongly advise you to do it if you haven't just to see if you like it or not. I had it as one of my choices when I was applying for specialist physics, after I visited the campus I changed my mind. so best to visit uni first.
Anyone going to the open day wednesday 8th December?

I'm going!! Quite excited  Are you taking anyone with? Usually I would go alone but a friend wants to see it so is coming as well
Just found a week old email from Queen Mary sitting in my junk box. Had a heart attack. Opened it and all it was was an acknowledgement and breaking the news that it could take anything up to 8 weeks to hear anything else. -_-

On the plus side you've only got 7 weeks left to wait
Just got an email about my application for Drama and English. Because of my location (Hong Kong), they've assigned me a written task instead of an interview. Has anyone else had this? x

for people who got invited to the open day on the 8th, is it because you didnt attend an open day? or do they only invite people who they are considering?
