If I try to talk to them about unis they just brush it off and say they don't know and it's my choice. Would actually like some proper advice.

Haaa. Yeah, not many people do.

I just sent a message on Facebook to a guy I know at Hull and he sent me a long, lovely message telling me to ignore all the horror stories. I'm just gonna go for it at Hull and do my best. I want to go there now so I shall! Ha.
