Are you proud to be a virgin?

Why would one be proud of something that you haven't done? I can understand being proud of not having done drugs as thats a bad thing but that is not the case with not having had sex.

Anyway, in today's society 20+ year old virgin's aren't too common. I think society puts pressure on guys to get with girls (as the cliche goes: a girl who sleeps around is a slut, a guy who sleeps around is a hero) so somebody who has not gotten with at least one girl at a high age is seen as a bit of a loser. Of course people probably won't put you down for it but it isn't exactly a fact that you'd go around parading about yourself.

I'm a 21 year old virgin male, never kissed and never dated either and I hate it. There are so so many beautiful girls out there which makes it even more depressing that I haven't done anything with any of them.

I'm 17, I've had one girlfriend and am still a virgin. And you know what? I don't care. I'm happy I'm a virgin. In this day and age where little kids are having sex and the number of one-night stands are on the increase, I'm glad I'm still a virgin. I'm more than happy to wait for the right girl. I don't care how long that takes.

In fact, I'm going on a date soon and if the girl I like becomes my girlfriend I don't care if she isn't ready. Sex is overrated and I'm not going to succumb to peer pressure. Never have, never will.

Does anyone else alright with being a virgin?

Being a virgin is nothing to brag about in the same right not being one is nothing to brag about, and FYI sex can take place in a loving relationship too, not just a one night stand.

Sex is overrated? How exactly would you know? Someone has given you false information, if anything it's underrated!
I'm 20 and still virgin. I am neither proud or ashamed. But I am worried that I have no experience with the opposite sex. Anyone else feel this way?
Wouldn't say proud. Glad, maybe.
It's just not really a big deal to me. Sure all my friends aren't virgins & at 18 the time is ticking but i'll do it when it feels right, not to just get it out of the way.

How do you know?

I'm a virgin, but only partly voluntarily. The main factors are that I do believe in waiting for The One (*dodges pitchforks*), and that I'm the one who the girls will be friends with, but never think of as being a bloke.
Im a 19 year old guy and I regret being a virgin. I have had opportunities since I was 15 and kept putting it off because I wanted to wait for the right girl and all that. And now I still havent lost it because I keep thinking "ive put it off this long I dont want to settle now" its stupid. I wish I had done it when I was 15 the first opportunity I got to be honest.

Why would you be proud of not doing something? I haven't been to Nando's or hired an escort, I'm so proud of myself.

I can understand, however, not being ashamed.

Christianity is not about being a virgin. That would make it a stupid thing and would mean that people who werent virgins could not become christians. Christianity is about God, and trusting in him to forgive us for our sins and then serving him for the rest of eternity etc. Remaining a virgin until marriage is only part of following God's commands.

To serve is to obey His word; but to have already fornicated is no impediment to acquiring faith. However, if one blindly commits fornication without repentance then they cannot claim to be a Christian. There are too many fake Christians in the world who believe that it is as simple as believing in God and 'picking and choosing' what to practise. Some would call it hedonism, others heresy.
I'm happy I waited for someone who respects me.
I should state that I created this thread having heard a discussion on the radio a few weeks ago that asked are you proud to be a virgin.
I don't understand.....why would you be proud to be a virgin?

I don't see a reason to be proud. Nor do I see a reason to proud if you're not. It's no big deal either way.

i completely agree with you. it's just that fornicating won't keep you out of heaven .so it can't be said that remaining a virgin is what christianity is all about . It is a sin so it should not be done period as it disobeys God and being a christian is about serving God as he sent Jesus to take the punichment for our sinsand that is what christianity is all about, not remaining a virgin. I agree about there being too many fake christians. I have friends from different churches like it. When you are a christian this is what you should want to do. Follow all of God's word not pick and choose. They don't pay attention to the old testament and ignore blatant statements like 1 corinthians vs 5, which is in the same chapter as the lords table. I am proud to say that I am born again. I use an AV Bible and take it how it is read, translated from the Hebrew/Greek, old and new testament, and do my best, with God's hep to live by that.

Fair enough, but do you mind answering how you feel you can say "sex is overrated" when you've never had it? Lots of people have mentioned it, and you've just ignored it.
OP is a fag.
What is there to be proud of? You haven't done the one thing you were born to do.

I'm not as of a few months ago (I'm 18), but I can't say I was "proud" so much as glad I'd waited for the right person. I'm just glad I don't regret it.
I'm 21 and a virgin - I was proud of it when I was younger because it seemed everyone else was at it, but I don't really feel anything about it now; I'm indifferent.

Just because I feel like awkward...surely until you have offspring you haven't fulfilled your basic biological purpose, so protected sex doesn't count? Although...since we're self aware and much more self determinate when it comes to how we exist, I wonder if the rules for humans should be a little different. For example if you develop a cure for a disease, or invent a technology which improves/saves the life's of many people, although you haven't reproduced, you've furthered your species in a different but actually more important way....

I should go to bed...
Definetely
