Why do the BBC make programmes?
They get their money from TV Licensing regardless of how good their programmes are and get no further income revenue from any source so why do they bother making TV programmes and other services? They could stop doing everything they do and would still make loads of money and make even more profit since they aren't spending anything and thus pay their employees a higher salary or hire more unemployed people and cut down on the government's expenditure in benefits. Why don't the government encourage them to do this?
The whole point of the BBC is so we get quality programming, without advertisements.
I'm sure if you read the smallprint in the contract they have regarding the license fee you'll find that it's obligatory for them to keep making programmes.
Also, making the programmes itself can create money. The BBC sell many of their programmes (such as Doctor Who) all over the world.

Maybe the NHS should stop treating patients? It would be so much cheaper that way.
They get money off of dvds and books and stuff as well.

But thats not the point its a government service not a business, its not trying to make loads of money

i think the NHS should liquidate and the health care in this country be completely privatised, but that's besides the point

The BBC exists to make programmes, and you're suggesting they stop doing it to save money. It's exactly the same as suggesting the NHS stop treating patients in order to save money. Clearly you have completely misunderstood the point of the BBC.

What the hell, no they wouldn't countinue making money because if they stopped programming then they would receive massive numbers of complaints and it defeats the whole object of being a Broadcasting corporation. What a stupid question
