but why mention her parent's house value?!? whats that to do with it....
Meh, she went to a house party with a load of strangers. She let down her guard. I don't generally feel much sympathy for the "party-goer" types.

Very sad story.

Why the hell do people just copy and paste news stories onto this forum without contributing anything? What's the point? I can get news myself, thanks.

I posted the news story because it catched my eye and I wanted to share it with people on TSR. What do you think that I should contribute? Adding ''It's so awful.'' in the end of the article? Many people wouldn't even know that it happened.
"Miss Thomas' parents Wayne and Jacqueline were too upset to comment yesterday at their three-bedroom, £150,000 semi-detached home"

The relevance this has to the story in question is astounding... :nothing:

Why did they feel they needed to include this ?

I love how they just insert the price of a person's house/salary for no particular reason
Yup methadones the supposedly better feeling and slightly better to get hold of substitute for heroin. I doubt itd be for date rape purposes just a fun idea gone wrong.

For more information on the life of a heroin scuzzbag: see the film Candy, s'pretty awesome.

Cool story. There are hundreds of tragic news stories everyday. Doesn't mean they should all be spammed on TSR. If I wanted to read the news, I would go to a news website, not a student forum.
Miss Thomas, who enjoyed visiting nightclubs, wrote on her profile on social networking site Facebook: 'Love going out socialising with all my mates and getting very very drunk until I fall over ha ha xxx

Doesn't sound too sensible to be honest. Wouldn't be surprised if she had it deliberately herself.

I dont get why people spike drinks :erm:

I don't think it does happen, routinely. It's a bit of an urban myth. Even date rape drugs are bloody ineffective: I mean, OK, you've got a girl practically comatose - how do you then get her on her own and get her to a place where you can rape her? I can imagine maybe some people spike drinks for amusement, but I imagine it's unbelievably rare.

People are quick to ascribe 'spiking' to unpleasant reactions to alcohol. It could be plenty of things. I know, for example, someone who was violently ill after drinking a pint of beer which was contaminated with cleaning fluid.

Haha. The DM always do this. I think it's supposed to establish social class or something. I remember seeing a girl described as something like 'anything but working class' in the Mail because she lived in a fairly drab semi-detached house.

Are they really all being spammed on TSR? It's not just an everyday tragic story, it's also a warning for the people, who leave their drinks unattended.

I love getting off my tits too, but if someone slips something into whatever I'm drinking, or my dealer gets a dodgy batch without realising, then it's hardly my fault for my illness/death... well, it would be if I wasn't paying attention to my drink. So let's go with the second option.

As I was saying, it's hardly my fault... :blah:

People should know not to leave their drinks unattended by that age. Hell, they should be aware of it the first time they go out drinking; it's common sense.

From wikipedia...

A study in the UK found that only 2 percent of a pool of 1,014 rape victims had their drinks spiked with sedatives.[6][7] Another UK study of 75 patients, most of them women, who thought their drinks had been tampered with in pubs or clubs found that none had been given a surreptitious drug. They had simply become intoxicated.[8] Similarly, a 2009 Australian study concluded that, of 97 patients admitted to hospital claiming to have had their drinks spiked, none had in fact been drugged.[9]

I honestly believe it is largely an urban legend and that most people just drink themselves ****faced then get taken advantage of

They definitely should, but as you can see, some of them still behave mindlessly.

While I can see exactly where you're coming from, and despite what the statistics say (relevant as they are), I'm disinclined to agree with you on the basis that a friend of mine was raped on a night out after rohypnol had been slipped into her drink.

Not an urban legend, I assure you.
