My boyfriend wants to be a model?

So, he wants to be a model and spends hours looking at modelling websites and such,
Sends me links to people who've had photo shoots and say's the jealous of their bodies and the opportunities they've had.

He has developed an "eating disorder", although he's not fat at all, he thinks that he is and therefore hardly eats properly.

Do you think it's a realistic aspiration to have? I'd say it's akin to wanting to be a footballer whilst only being a mediocre recreational player or to be a actor when your only experience of acting is GCSE Drama.

What shall I do?
Support him? Or continue to attempt to highlight both how it's not a glamorous but image obsessed, bitchy, stressful and very hard industry, on top of all the issues his new eating habits may cause him in the long term?

I really don't know girl, you should support him and be honest with him, thats what a girlfriend should do, not talk behind his back and betray him. You are doubting him which makes me wonder if you actually believe in him, God forbid I have a girlfriend like you, cos I probably will kill myself there and then!

Sorry for being harsh but that's the reality of what you posted!

You think that's bad? My boyfriend wants to be a porn-star.... *puke*

But in all seriousness, if he is developing an eating disorder, that industry is not going to be healthy for him. I'd support him in anyway possible...

It would be harsh to say it bluntly to his face.
I am seeking advice so I do the right thing by him. That's not being harsh, that's actually being nice.

I'm trying to do the right thing, and seeking the advice of others so that whatever I help him do is the best thing for him.

don't worry about that poster OP, you're doing a good thing seeking advice.

I'd say support him to a point but maybe try now to improve his confidence because it sounds like modelling could be a downward spiral for him (of eating disorders, low self-esteem etc.) but before he gets excited about modelling he needs to have the correct requirements. Is he 5'11 or taller?

Yes, because there is such a clear link between making money from your natural good looks and being attracted to other men

I didn't imply this link.
I was suggesting that he might be gay if he has a fixation on male beauty and ''Sends me links to people who've had photo shoots and say's the jealous of their bodies and the opportunities they've had.''
It's a long running thing/joke that guys who love mens health magazine and working out are gay
OBVIOUSLY no sensible person would say that its gay to make money from being handsome, but the op says her bf isn't handsome.
I wasn't gay bashing.

Well surely if he wants to be a model then he would be jealous of those with good bodies that allow them to progress in that sort of career, gay or not?

Op said he isn't that handsome.
How would the idea for him to be a male model originate? Out of all my friends the only guy who has ever talked about being a model or even showed real interest in his appearance (beyond impressing girls), is a guy who is ridiculously hot and has had girls fawning over him since year7.
Lets just agree to disagree? There are no winners in internet arguments.

Hey there I'm sorry for assuming. In your original post you said that him wanting to be a model was ''akin to wanting to be a footballer whilst only being a mediocre recreational player or to be a actor when your only experience of acting is GCSE Drama.''
Lol how else could this euphemism be interpreted ?!
