Why do so many people take MDMA?

I have never felt a desire to take this, or any other drug, at any stage of my life - clubbing or otherwise.

Frankly, I find it unbelievable the amount of people on this forum who openly admit they have taken it and then go on to depict their experience as 'awesome' or the 'best of my life.'

In my humble opinion, I regard you all as a bunch of druggies. Go ahead and try and disprove me with your baffle on how the drug works.

As an aside, Profesh my estimations of you have decreased substantially after reading your posts.

It's a legal 'drug' which people also take to try to ensure their night out is better.

I also feel that it is completely and utterly overused in conversation between people in University: "Aw, I was smashed at the weekend", is a common example. You will hear it from the same people week in, week out. It tends to get very repetitive.

I'm not against alcohol as it is legal and in all honesty I do drink, myself, on rare occassion. However, I like to look after my body, being a footballer and tend to find that it's just not worth the hangover/extra gym time for something I get little reward from. Not only that, but unlike a lot of people in my university I actually give a **** about getting a 1st in a decent subject and I am not just there for the laugh.

Why you ask?

Actually, I do.

Meaningless statistics with no source.

Yes, I'm sure that's what they call it. What's baffling is that you quote your 'over 50%' statistic and then conclude that I therefore think that 'everyone' is a druggie. What school did you go to where they taught you that 50% is everyone?

Maybe it's the drugs messing with your head, son. Who's the ignorant **** now?

Have a look on wikipedia mate...or a government source if you like....you just go out and ask 100 people - i guarantee 50 have tried a spliff before.

Just because you dont agree, doesnt mean you can be a pompous ar*e about it - if you dont like it, good for you.

Its legality has nothing to do with it and blow yuor argument. If it was all legal you'd be alright with it??

Doesnt make sense mate.

Because alcohol is more harmful. I've never had a problem with mdma. Read what professor nutt has to say about the most harmful/least harmful drugs.

I completely agree with you . If we were supposed to feel the way these drugs make you feel then why were we not born with the capability of feeling that way? I'm very much someone who can't remember the last time they had alcohol / caffeine etc, I'm all for non-processed foods and things.

Well, we are born with that capability, the drug is just the key to access it. It's likely that humans throughout evolutionary history did drugs in the form of plants and since we became a highly socialised species getting stoned off our heads in the name of either fun or shamanistic ritual has probably been just as ubiquitous as anything else.

I am with you on the evil that is processed food, mind you. I do buy some pre-packaged and frozen vegetables to save time, though, being poor. But never would I buy things like breaded chicken or disgusting ready meals. My flatmates are always doing it, it's eww.

you get used to it eventually though....but of course its never the same

Yup...I was quite seriousley injured recently, and while I was on all the medication, of course I wasn't taking anything else.
Even once I was off the prescriptions, I still went for a while without any heavy nights out or substance use... and I remember going for our usual night and just thinking how surreal it all was - experiencing it sober was a shock. haha.
It was still fun, but definitley not the same as when you're frazzled on stuff c;

As for 'Don't diss it, till you've tried it' - Don't worry I lead a perfectly happy life and don't need any drugs to attempt to make a ****ty life seem okay for a while.

Funnily enough, the majority of people don't use drugs to 'make a ****ty life seem okay for a while' - well certainly me or any of my mates don't.
We do it simply because it's an enjoyable experience. Some people enjoy cooking and eating cupcakes. Well...we enjoy taking pills and having a belter time.
Yes yes...ones a legal activity and one is illegal. But it's still the same principle - we do it for pleasure, not for masking the reality.

What you're describing is the stereotypical view of drug users - pathetic, addicted **** ups who need a way to escape the **** they are. Well...it's not all like that.

As for this statement - funny but I'm a 2nd year medic and guess what? I'm on a 1st at the moment. Averaging 83.4%
So I guess the fact that I'm a drug user doesn't necessarily make me a failiure. One can always achieve a balance.

**** me, check this guy out.

Mate seriously, you have absolutely no idea how ignorant you are do you?

You clearly make wild assumptions about drugs and drug users based on nothing but government propaganda you have been fed all your life, and unlike many of us, chose to believe.

Fact of the matter is, a drugs legality has nothing to do with it's safety. How can you admit to using a legal and potentially very harmful drug, but then call someone who does a much less harmful drug, a druggie or whatever?

Have you any idea how many people have/do use drugs? Or how many very intelligent and/or famous people use drugs.. i mean take Alexander Shulgin as an example - this man has done more drugs than most people, and yet he's accomplished more than you are ever likely to.

Your just making yourself look like an ignorant fool by what your saying. I'm not trying to be a dick to you at all, don't get me wrong, but you are clearly have very wrong ideas about what drugs actually are.

I take MDMA on rare occasions. Which means if I am a "druggie" then you are an alcoholic.
