The most boring/dull sports, what's the appeal?

I don't get why people watch boring sports such as....

Golf
Cricket
Snooker
Darts
Lawn green bowling

Although I'm not a football or rugby fan, at least those sports are not 'dull'. But the ones I listed above....geez, what is the appeal? I think I'd be more excited watching paint dry!

What other sports do you consider to be 'dull' or 'boring'?

Yeah Cricket is a sport I struggle to watch as well. Although I can quite happily watch Baseball and they're not very different in terms of the spectacle. Fishing is on TV, I can't possibly imagine how you could enjoy watching that.

What a "dull" sport is to you may not be a "dull" sport to others.

This, sport is a subjective thing.

If you are good at the specific sport youre more likely to enjoy it , since everyone loves winning alot
All about competition aswell any sport could be fun if your friend is a similiar level to you

For me, commentary is important. If the commentary is dull, I really can't watch a match/game etc.

Snooker is a great game to play and to watch on tv. Tv wise, because all the action is centred on one table so it's easy to follow the game plus different camera angles allow the viewer to really see what's going on. However, I could never imagine myself sitting in the crowd.

I find that running up and down a field with 21 other people chasing after one ball for 90 minutes is extremely dull. At least in darts you only have to wait 3 seconds before someone gets some sort of points.

Shows you do not know much about football ,If that is your reason for finding it dull ..
Cricket's brilliant. You get good spectacles from the fantastic catches and the brilliant shots and once you understand it fairly well you can properly appreciate the tactical nuances that make, particularly test, cricket really engrossing. Then you have 20twenty which is just a day of watching people slog it. It makes for an enjoyable five minutes, but really I just find it dull. It becomes a lot more about individual people rather than the team and tactics.

I find football not so much dull as not worth it. It generally has a few exciting minutes in a game and you have to sit through 85 others to find them. The real problem is the attitude that goes with it. I could never be a big fan and get really into it because I'd have to support the massive commercialisation of it, the view that it's the be all and end all of life and the general massive hype about what is, in the end, 22 men running up and down a field occasionally falling over and screaming foul.
Im really struggling to watch Baseball.
Everytime i watch it, i just find myself falling asleep.
Formula 1.

The only highlight is when a load of cars crash at the first bend.

As Jeremy Clarkson said in one of his books: "The driver rankings change more times in one lap of BTCC, than in a whole season of Formula 1"

Well I love watching Cricket (all forms), Football, Rugby and Darts.

I don't see how darts can be considered boring, it's hardly a slow game is it!?
And the commentary on the Cricket is superb, the best of any Sport in my opinion.
I think football is dull, and that's one of the most popular sports in the world!
Everyone has different tastes.

Don't watch it then. Why not just change the tv channel??

This is a pretty pointless thread really. Unless you can come up with a global set of criteria against which the "interest factor" can be measured, then its a complete waste of time.
Golf is slow but I don't find it dull. I think once you actually play the sports, understand the rules and get into the game you find it very exciting. I played golf for 6 years, and because I was fairly good at it I enjoyed every minute of it - even the bad days when I couldn't hit a ball for ****, or when the weather was crap. I haven't had the time recently but I'd like to get back into it. :h:
