The time and place of taking GCSEs...?

Hi all,

Was just wondering, is it possible for one to take GCSEs outside school, anytime during the year? Say, for example, in the middle of the summer, could one take exams at a local university or "local exam center"(-whatever it maybe called-)?

Is exam taking restricted to exam windows? If so, when are all the "exam window" periods, are there any in mid summer?

Thanks,

Evan MF

Yes you can (outside school) but not at any time you want, there are specific exam sessions for UK exams. Not every subject/unit is available in every window. The main windows are November, January (A level), March and the main GCSE session is May/June. They are not available mid-summer.

CIE offer different dates for international exams.

Yeah you can take exams outside school at other exam centres but definitely not during the summer. January and June are the main exam times and I think occasionally they do papers in November and March but nothing July/August time.
