To be honest I can't remember for sure... I'm not sure about the 200 offers made after the interview, but I feel very very confident about the 500 interview offers. I know about it from a long time so I must have heard about it from a reliable source. Perhaps when I called them... or... jeez i'm getting old!

Anyway if you guys didn't hear about it then i suppose I might be mistaking (even though as i said I have the feeling I'm right). Anyways keep your spirit up!

Mind if I ask, did you include in your PS about readings you've done? I've heard that they care about extra reading and stuff?

OMG...I don't even understand half of the stuff u just mentioned

Same!!!

Though i heard somewhere that putting things like that wont help, i know someone on britsol and kings admission board, and they said to make your PS more personal and what you got out of you experiences and education etc etc. Because at the end of the day they are going to test your outside knowledge and whether you have read extra stuff in the interview.

that's probably because you don't go to medical school

and i'm sure you have your "own topic" that you're interested in. so it's fine. no need for big long words, just need enthusiasm. :colondollar:

EDIT:

OH. and in regards to the interview, I would suggest knowing a little about everything. I didn't really get much of a chance to explain my "topics"... It was far more general than that.

I only know about it because I've been really interested in neurology for the past couple of years (it's what lead me to choose medicine) ... I'm sure you both have specialist areas of intrest which I won't have a clue about!

Also... surely it can't hurt? I only made it a very small part of my statement (2 sentences). I talked about what I got out of my voluntary work and work experience for two paragraphs! Lol. I had an interview for Newcastle and they didn't ask me anything about my 'extra reading' ... they mainly posed moral dilemmas and asked me about how I lead/ work in a team etc etc.

neither do I.. it's all bullcrap, they don't believe applicants who tell them they understand cancer cell signalling pathways or other such nonsense - ultimatly most of the interviewers don't understand that sort of stuff either - trying to sound clever isn't nessesarily a good thing.

It was quite general -what I said- I didn't put technical terms in there to sound fancy or interesting... I'm genuinely interested in the topic and am sincere in the knowledge that I have only 'scraped the surface' on the matter. It was more the pursuit of an extention to my A-level study that I was trying to convey.

The general ideas are fairly easy to understand:

I included some academic books that i've went through such as Campbell's Biology and Frank Netter's Atlas... Hope that's good enough for them!

I haven't heard of those before... nice to know I'm not alone with the extra book reading.

Didn't read it all... I just had to learn some stuff out of it in order to understand the lessons I had for the biology Olympiad. Unfortunately the books I had were pretty puzzeled and Campbell really clarified loads of things for me.

Can't say I read all of it though. Mostly the anatomy parts:smile:

an exclamation of celebration?

Spoiler

I emailed St Andrews and they say they have still to decide on a UKCAT cutoff but are hopeful that they will consider those with 2457.

Which is good news for those with scores around 615, 620, etc
